It is still excellent, but a little less flavorful and overly spritzy. It also lacks the restraint of the similar Orval. Still... shimmering amber with a long-lasting white head, lacing. The brain registers minor citrus on the nose, then some caramel and malt tucked in the back. Yeast is throughout. Then the beer shifts gears and slams it out of the park with mother nature funk, like an earthy, clay sulfur/egg/barnyard thing. Belts are totally fastened now.The flavor: sweet orange, lemon, apple, and spice cruising down a highway of pepper-dusted wood, yeast, alcohol, and minor hop there as well. Medium-bodied and strongly carbonated. Zinister (1207), Houston, Texas, USA

Opens with a puff and then gushes for a good 15 minutes. Nice rich amber orange, massive textured head forming clumps as it subsides. Tart, tannic aroma, spice, apple, plenty of fruit --- these come through in the flavor, definitely some sour, lots of oak, quite strongly herbal with the grains of paradise and coriander mixing up nicely with the general flavor profile. Pretty dry, lemon juice, some hops on the close. Very different, very enjoyable! KAggie97 (2477), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA

Nice, deep cheddar orange brew with an aroma of spicy, sweet wood- mostly cedar, but perhaps a bit of pine as well. . Flavor is oak-tinged seltzer water in a mixture of zesty lemon lime. Mouthfeel reminds me of a Pilsner with an attitude. Refreshing brew. Wouldn’t mind more of this. Angeloregon (2033), Portland, Oregon, USA

Nose of rich caramel and funk. Spiciness coupled with fruit notes such as apples, pears, and flower peddles. Subtle booziness lingered. Carried on with a bright prickly carbonic tongue presence and finished sour, bitter, sweet, and dry. jstraw (776), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Cloudy caramel-amber with big, foamy beige head / Big, aromatic nose of fruit and caramel / Light bodied, tart and crisp, with delicate carbonation, a silky, balanced body, and a long finish / Flavors of green apple, lemon, pear, caramel, chrysanthemum, oak, coriander, and lots of earthy funk / Lacking a little of the complexity (maybe?) of other JP offerings, but still spectacular. Nose of funk, tart fruit, oak. Taste is similar with apple, spice, hops, and plenty of sourness. Some mild yeast as well. Mouth is carbonated and relatively light. Finish is bitter, sour, and sweet. beachbum25 (802), Powellville, Maryland, USA

Funky, woodsy flavor of spiced apples, lemon, colander, orange peel, & oak. Mouthfeel is very thin & reminds me of a cheap scotch. Thought this one was just to far out there & out of balance to enjoy. Long, burnt liquor finish.
