| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Apr 12, 2006 Pours a hazy pink copper and has a soft white head (like all JPs). Aroma is dry lemons, brett, and yeast. A bit of wood comes through as well, especially when compared to the regular luci. I guess this is the first time I can say that I have smelled cheese in a brew as well. Taste is much quicker than the regular luci...and ends with bold wood and earthy...though no bourbon that I can detect. Tastes is similar to the aroma I guess...bit of brett, dried lemons, slightly tart yeast, malt, some pepper and spices. No hops. As it warmed some significant farmhouse funk started happening as well (more cheese). Mouthfeel is supremely dry and crisp. This is pretty good stuff...but I think I’d rather have a regular luci when it is all said and done. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 11, 2006 Cloudy orange with a big off white head. Aroma of lemon zest, orange peel and cheese. Taste is similar and tart. I dont get any bourbon out of this, which is just fine with me. Some wood flavor but it doesnt appear to be oak. Dry with some grape. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Apr 8, 2006 Updated: Apr 9, 2006Thanks to many people for this one. I will hopefully remember and you will be rewarded. As yea sow so shall yea reap! Bright, slightly hazed, light copper color. Light with a touch of orange peel tree bark and mild lemon juice in the scent. It is just not getting this my full endorsemant in the nose. Very smooth and silky on the palate. Rasins, and light apple cidre flavors. A fine brew. Touches of oak, brett and lightly toasted malt. A calm sedate type brew. A more reflective type brew. More a short story than an epic or novel. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 8, 2006 Big thanks to Hopdog for sharing this for his 2000th rating! Congrats steve! This actually pours a bit lighter than the regular version- gold, moslty clear and a nice medium head which fades, unlike the original which seems to have a much larger head with better retention. The brett aroma of the original is significalty subdued in the reserve, although there is a lot of nice aromas here- wood, earth, oak, lightly spiced, farmhouse characteristics like barnyard, leather, and lightly phenolic. Residual notes of bourbon and vanilla from the oak are noticed as well. Whereas the original isnt very sour or acidic, the reserve definitely has a nice acidity especially towards the end of the palate. Lightly spicy flavor with more brnyard funk, lightly fruity, light on the alcohol and very woody. Finishes nice and crisp, dry, and has a nice sour tart end. Very nice overall. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 7, 2006 Bottle courtesy of Schroppfy!! Pours a deep amber and is very clouded. Small random bubbles around the edges. They scatter and end up in splotches around the rim. Nose is big fresh cut oak aromas, vanilla, bourbon, green apples, spices and I could swear almost a seaweed type aroma! Taste is bourbonny but restrained. Lots of wood notes, vanilla, light melon, hint of berry, and light tartness. Body is thick and leaning towards chewy with medium carbonation. Finishes a bit on the sweeter side. Lighter bourbon, vanilla, touch of caramel, sweet malts, apples, light berry and ripe melons. Nice stuff! hopdog (5611), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 7, 2006 12oz bottle acquired in trade with Styles (thanks!). I broke this one out for my Ratebeer # 2,000 rating (my how the beers go by). Poured a medium amber color with a smaller sized of white head. Some floaters in there. Aromas of oak, wood, vanilla, light spices, brett, leather, green apples, spices, and very light bourbon. Lot going on there. Tastes of wood, light spices, green apples, vanilla and caramel. We tried this side by side with a fresh bottle of the regular Firefly and it was interesting to see the difference. weeare138 (936), Collegeville, Pennsylvania, USA

Appears a light amber with a small white head that fades into a mild collar. Little bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of malty caramel, and fruit with mild citrusy hops coming through.
Taste is malty, hoppy with vienna malts, caramel, toffee, and mild hops all being present.
Mouthfeel is slightly bubbly with a toffee sweetness.
