A bone dry "foreign stout"? My whole world has been turned upside down face. Eructoblaster (1508), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

Pours a rich, opaque sable with a very thick and fairly persistent dark tan head. Aroma is fairly strong and has chocolate, smoky and coffee components. Flavor is like cold coffee with some sweet fizz and an undertone of dark chocolate. There is also some apple flavor and a bit of an alcohol nip, giving the taste a cidery component. Texture is smooth but not watery. Shaftie (18), , Florida, USA

The sourness did not go well at all with the chocolate, roasty malts. I’m not sure what these guys were trying to due but its like eating a lemon and a piece of dark chocolate. This was also extremely carbonated and is the second Jolly Pumpkin brew which has extremely disappointed me. Maybe this is good compared to others like it but that still doesn’t make it enjoyable. I’m sorry but thumbs down. Bigmmartin (378), Dayton, Ohio, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 5, 2008 Updated: Jul 6, 2008Bottle. I’m still confused about this beer. I’m not really sure what just happened. I wasn’t impressed at all. It does have a hint of tart aroma and flavor that accompanies a standard (but subtle) stout roasted maltiness, however it was overly carbonated in my opinion and fairly bland. bp (475), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 21, 2008 Bottle: pours a thick looking black with a big frothy tan head, aroma of chocolate, malt, coffee, some sourness too, taste is acidic, sour, bitter with a thin mouthfeel. Complex but I’m not sure this all works together - at least for my taste buds it doesn’t seem to be working.
