Aroma is totally bacterial and sweet.
Taste is sour, bacterial, yummy with some underlying sweet stout essences.
This is very freaking good, not overly complex.
Like a cream/sweet stout with funkiness, coffee roasted/ bitterness. MuertosPorter (28), California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Mar 6, 2008 Bottle. A dark coffee brown pour. Very long retaining quarter inch brown head. Scent of oak, a little alcohol, a tinge of sourness, and burnt newspaper in the aroma. Slightly fizzy carbonation on the palate. Malt sweetness followed by a mild amount of sour. Earthy oak nuttiness, sour milk, dill pickles, sharp cheddar cheese. An Excellent beer! Boutip (2399), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Mar 6, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Hogtownharry: Poured a deep black color stout with a big light brown foamy head with some good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of roasted malt is mix with some sour bretty notes. Taste is also a mix between some roasted bitter malt notes with some sour and bretty notes which didn’t mix very well IMO. Medium body with some good carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I am usually one up for experiment but the mix between stout and bretty Belgian is something I could do without. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Pours a rich chocolately brown to black color with not much head to speak of. Smell is wood, a bit funky and tart roastiness. Taste is als tart and roasty with sour cherry like flavors mingling with chocolate. Medium bodied with light carbonation. Reminds me of a cherry stout, but is a bit more unique than that with some added complexity. Enjoyed this much more than I expected. corby112 (774), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Aroma is dominated by oak and whiskey with a nice amount of raosted malts underneath. Oak and whiskey up fron with hints of vanilla and slight sourness followed by rich roasted maltines, chocolate, fig and dark fruit. A very complex amazing beer! slipx (3), denham springs, Louisiana, USA does not count | 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Mar 3, 2008 waste of ten dollars.
