Smells of rich roasted malt, chocolate, some signature sourness. Tastes wild with some tea like hints and a rich chocolatey texture that gives way to some nice house character found in many of his creations. Another great beer from a great brewer! holdenn (1446), Chicago, Illinois, USA

First of all great label, i love all of their labels but particularly this one. Pours black in color with a thin beige head. Sour fruit aroma hoovering on top of a coffee base. Sour flavors strike me first cherries and fruit balanced out with dark chocolate and roast. The sourness is a bit odd but its balanced well and I am really enjoying it. jason (1626), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 26, 2007 Bottle. Thanks to moejuck and punkrkr27 for sending me this one. Dark brown body with nice head. Aroma is a really nice roasted malt with a small sour feel, wood. Flavor is of sweet malt with a funky sour taste, tart. A well balanced sugary flavor. Perfect mouthfeel - this really awakened my tastebuds. As it warmed the barrel again really started to make an appearance. As it warmed more it becomes very vinious and takes on a more wine like state. A nice take on the style. mmhnto (31), Lisle, Illinois, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Bottle shared by sliffy. Black pour with a light tan head. Aroma of light oak, roasted malt, coffee. THe flavor still held some of the roasted malt character, and coffee, but there was some sour oakiness that pounded its way through along with a bit of funk. Medium body roasty/funky throughout with a dry sour finish. a bit bizzare, but a neat variation to be sure. Though I think I like my sours a bit less roasty. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 21, 2007 Body is deep and dark with some modest viscosity and a velvety tan head. Lush chocolatey nose with raisin and caramel notes plus touches of vanilla and marshmallow. Flavor is tart and vinous with nice roast and chocolate malt along with pleasant wood characters. Makes me think of chocolate covered strawberries with espresso. Proudly carries Jolly Pumpkin’s open fermentation signatures. Good stuff.
