Interesting amount of roast with sourness, jolly pumpkin house yeast, oak, fruity. Flavor is sour, roast, oak, house yeast, medium sweet, yeast really dries out the finish, brett, really pleasnt. Medium body with active carbonation. Exactly what I would imagine from Jolly Pumpkin, all around really nice. sloth (1681), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA

Nose of faint chocolate and roast with a touch of funk, yeahhhh funk. Medium bodied, clean and crisp. Tart on the palate, enlightening. Flavors of laid back roast, a touch of tartbfunkiness light apple notes. Tart and fruity finish. Not yer typical stout for sure,,, gotta love it. I defionately need more time with this one. Well done! fun to drink. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jun 13, 2009 Well, I can understand those who like it...big, dark pour with frothy two finger head and lots of roasted malts leaping from the glass. I smell "sour" though...not that I shouldn’t have expected it from JP. Anyway, I drank it cold, I drank it warm. The sour just seemed misplaced in this style and I just couldn’t enjoy it, no matter how much I tried. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 10, 2009 750 ml. bottle from Buffalohead. Black with a dense, tan head that maintains its volume well. Aroma of burnt coffee, leather, and some earthy, spicy character. Medium body and a clean palate. Subtle malt based sweetness gives way quickly to sour, fruity flavors and a long bitter finish. Very unique with the JP character, and quite enjoyable. lassem (312), Copenhagen, Denmark
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 7, 2009 BOttle 75 cl. from Ølbutikken, Copenhagen. The beer is stamped Batch 259.
Dark, hollow and nightmarelike label. Angel og death.
Dark brown .. almost black with an two inches high brown head. The nose is sour with notes of lactic acid, chocolate, coffee, cherries and apricots. Actualy much similar to sour flamish ales - interesting. The taste is sour sour sour with som coffee notes. A sourness combined with a bitterness. There is a huge differens between the looks and how it taste and its aroma. Rune (2848), Tromsø, Norway
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Jun 6, 2009 Bottle, batch 359, from Ølbutikken in Copenhagen, shared with Skinnyviking. Devil-black body. Tan coloured head, quickly disappearing. Smell of dark berries. And more tart berries in flavour with suggestions of roasted malts. Rather acrid finish. Foamy mouthfeel. Not particular impressive. A bit disjointed, perhaps (Copenhagen, 17.05.2009).

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 5, 2009 sample at Ale Atlanta 6/4... pours a light black with a tan head. nice Belgian spice/yeast aromas with some banana and sourness. medium lively body with spice, dark fruits and a good amount of sourness. This feels like a sour stout. Really nice and interesting... not your typical stout with big roasted malts. This is a true Belgian inspired stout with all the wonderful qualities of Jolly Pumpkin. patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 31, 2009 bottle at Ft Wayne tasting - Pours black with a long lasting tan head. The aroma is mainly dark roast malt. It tastes of that dark roast malt along with some sour dark fruitiness, coffee, and a touch of smoke. It’s lively on the palate and finishes with some bitterness and roast malts lingering on the palate.
