Commercial Description:
A rich brown ale inspired by the enigmatic monastic brews of Belgium, and the mysterious mist shrouded jungles of the tropics. Brewed with real cacao, and spiced with cinnamon and sweet orange peel for a sensual delight. A brew to be sipped, savored, and enjoyed!

Pours a dark amber with an off-white head. The taste is pretty sour with a waterish palate. I taste cinamon, tonic water, cloves and orange peel. A finish that are dominated by the sourness. Im not blown away...

Thanks to CMWillard for this, Batch 254. Pours a foggy roasted pumpkin color with a good bit of sediment and an off-white colored head. Smell is very fruity with sour orange and grapefruit, with some corriander and other spices. Taste is a little lemony with a slight bitterness. Other fruit flavors and spices also come through. Another great offering from Jolly Pumpkin and possibly my favorite so far. ReRate 2/3/2008: On draft at Redlight Redlight. Exactly as described above, however I would give it a little less because the funk isn’t as prominent. Very good.

Light brown with a medium manageable head. The woody chocolate flavor takes center stage. The signature Jolly Pumpkin funk takes a background note. This Jolly Pumpkin taste is a bit sour with some alcohol in this beer. The basic cocao flavor is very hard to place but it reminds me of a piney as in pine tree flavor dominated by chocolate.

Sampled during Minnesota first annual Sourfest and shared by Stein. Pours a semi-clear reddish brown brew with an average tan head that slowly dissipates to a thin tan ring and film top. Aroma of tart cherries, light brown sugar, some lemon zest, and grapefruit. Taste is medium to full bodied, some light carbonation with flavors of Belgian yeast, some candi sugar, tart cherries, and a touch of orange. Finish has a mild tartness, a little cloves with a lingering yeast funk aftertaste.
