Commercial Description:
A rich brown ale inspired by the enigmatic monastic brews of Belgium, and the mysterious mist shrouded jungles of the tropics. Brewed with real cacao, and spiced with cinnamon and sweet orange peel for a sensual delight. A brew to be sipped, savored, and enjoyed!

Ruby body, thin tan champagne head. The nose is that of a flanders red. Cherries, oak, acidity, grapes/pears, cocoa, grape runts. Dryer than expected. Very tart red grapes, oak, bretty funk, lemon rind. Bretty bitter finish. I want more beers from this brewery! Some chocolate in the finish. Oh yeah, it also has a "smooth label" according to IPFreely :)

750ml bottle courtesy of SoLan. Pours to a murky, caramel color, with a short, off white head that fades, and good bit of carbonation. The nose on this beer is spicy and zesty, with aromas of cinnamon, cocoa powder, orange peel, and oaky/vinous aroma. The palate is also zesty and spicy, with flavors of citrus, spice, and oaky sourness that zing on the palate. This beer finishes with more good citrus and spice character, then ends with some subtle malt sweetness and subtle cocoa flavor, followed by a refreshing, lingering sourness. Another excellent, artisan ale, from Jolly Pumpkin. This is a fantastic beer to match with hearty fare. It would make great beer to match with desert, and is a natural with chocolate. Savor this one before, after, or with a meal.

Pours a five+ finger light brown head that fades slowly leaving a good lace. Deep red/amber color, ton of yeast in bottom of bottle. Strong carbonation and medium bodied. Alcohol and sour apple nose. Starts and finishes with a sour apple flavor, malts in the background. Alcohol is slightly noticeable, not your usual American brown. $8.20 for a 750ml bottle from Colonial Spirits Acton, Ma.

Bottle. Pours a deep brown with foamy tan head. Aroma is candy sugar malts and alcohol. Taste has a nice fruitiness with toasted malts, brown sugar, and molasses. Very nice. Jolly Pumpin is turning out to be a very solid brewery.

Pours a hazy dark brown with a thick light tan head that fades. Aroma is of oxidized apples, light brown sugar, cherries, cinnamon, and bark. Flavor is of apples, brown malts, earth, and alcohol that does not burn but blends and carries the flavors. Medium body with a effervecent palate that leaves the tounge with a tingle. Finish is interesting as the carbonation (or maybe it is the drying effect of the cacao) washes much of the flavor away leaving a lingering mix of the primary flavors and soda water.

Beautiful, tight head. Cloudy, reddish-brown. Tart aroma yielding to leather, coriander, vanilla, cherry & toffee. Firm, soft structure from bottle condition. Malty flavor lingers on, demonstrating lightly roasted malt, spices, and dried fruit. Very long, wonderfully complex finish. Tremendous balance & restraint, beguiling complexity. Wonderful beer.

cloudy dark rusty brown color and golden at edges. thick foamy peachish-tan colored head. aroma is golden raisin and dried lime rind. high carbonation, flavor is quick sweet malt and raisin but rapidly chased by a spicy dryness - white pepper, sour dried lime rind, like many other JP brews. finsihs is clean. can’t taste the cacao nibs for the life of me.
