Hazy brown color with a large tan head that would not dissipate and left great lacing. Funky aroma of brett, citrus, banana, raisins and cinnamon. Taste is fruity and yeasty, with some bretty flavors in the foreground. In the background are some sweet spices(cinnamon and cocoa) along with some dark dried fruits. Very enjoyable. Liked this brown belgain a lot. Slightly tart, with a spicy cinamon zip. Great mouth feel that gets creamier as it warms. Rerate: Great nose of old oak, wine and brown sugar. Huge tan head on top of muddy brown looking swamp water. Oak barrel taste, little sour wine with a touch of brown sugar. This tasted a bunch like its great nose. Alcohol is completely cloaked. The palette is perfect. Creamy and rich and round sensations turn to dry and tart as it goes down the hatch. Amazing beer. I’m so lucky to have a brewery this unique only a few miles from my house. I’m horrible at describing beers. This beer deserves a good review. AustinMilbarge (681), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 26, 2006 A tasty little example of a brown ale. Far spicier than your typical Newle. Some cinnamon, maybe cumin. A delicious concoction. 7.5% abv is well concealed. I think this would be great with some spicy BBQ. Cornfield (4961), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 25, 2006 Chestnut brown with a light tab head. The aroma is a yeasty fruitiness with some light toffee in the background and a faint whiff of cinnamon. The flavor is more complex, adding an additional peppery spiciness along with zest of orange and a touch of alcohol. The toffee sweetness joins the alcohol in the finish. Okay.

I thought it was a very plain tasting dubbel...It distinctly reminded me of something...I said it out loud, but I can’t remember...I will update when it comes to me, or when one of the guys that was there helps me out. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 21, 2006 Poured a very hazy brown...thin brownish head. Light roasty malt nose, some funk, nutty, some alcohol. Flavor is woody, more alcohol, herbal edge, a little spicey. Carbonation gets your attention...light bitternes in the end. I love JP beers. ryan (1780), Beltsville, Maryland, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 21, 2006 Updated: Apr 19, 2006Rating #300. One year old bottle of the first batch. Pours brown with a red tint and a medium, rocky head that quickly fades. The aroma is vinous, balsamic vinegar, cherries, a hint of cinnamon and caramel. The flavor is refreshingly sour, subtle touches of oak, cobwebs and cinnamon compliment the sour cherries, oranges and lemons. Luscious, rich chocolate comes at the end along with some pithy bitterness from the orange peels. Mouthfeel is thin and light. A spiced Oud Bruin?
