A- Pours a murky dark orange hue, head is crisp white packed bubbles that dissipate to a thin layer, moderate lacing
S- Fragrant bouquet of sour and tart fruits, mostly green apples and pears, some citrus and cherries, pepper and spice tones
T- Initial taste is sour cherries and tart apples, follow by flavors of citrus, oak, and cinnamon, the cacao is advertised by very faintly recognized in the sour finish
M- Medium-bodied, smooth and full texture, ample carbonation
D- Amazingly smooth beer, unfortunately the flavor falls short of the fragrant aromas, this is an intriguing seasonal from JP that has a lot of promise but doesn’t quite deliver

Jan 8, 2009 poured a dark amber wiht white head, bubbly pallate, good as always for Jolly Pumpkin, that token funkiness that makes them fun.

Jan 1, 2009 This beer is kind of a mix between an oud bruin and a Belgian dark. Nice vinous, chocolate and plum notes combine with funk, vinegar and acid. Really well balanced with a smooth palate and a long, dry, funky, fruity, spicy aftertaste. Amazingly complex yet beautifully balanced. Fucking masterpiece.

Dec 30, 2008 I’ve recently gotten onto the Jolly Pumpkin bandwagon. Everytime I try another one of their beer, I only come out liking that funky taste that much better. Very different taste, yet very well balanced. Bring on the next one....

Dec 29, 2008 Ugh this is awful. I must have a bad bottle. Aroma was vomit, brown cinnamon and alcohol. Pour was a nice dark gold with a one finger near tan head. Taste was awful. Puke with dark fruits and a vinous backbone with a spicy and acloholic aftertaste. Without the puke taste I can taste that the beer might not be that bad. Each sip I take I think maybe it is me, but it keeps coming back. Blah.

Dec 16, 2008 bottle thanks to bhops. poured a hazy amber with a beige head. aroma of sour tart, orange zest, caramel, and green apples. flavor went right along with the nose with a touch of cinnamon added.

Dec 14, 2008 Pours a dark amber with an off-white head. The taste is pretty sour with a waterish palate. I taste cinamon, tonic water, cloves and orange peel. A finish that are dominated by the sourness. Im not blown away...

Dec 12, 2008 Updated: Feb 3, 2009Thanks to CMWillard for this, Batch 254. Pours a foggy roasted pumpkin color with a good bit of sediment and an off-white colored head. Smell is very fruity with sour orange and grapefruit, with some corriander and other spices. Taste is a little lemony with a slight bitterness. Other fruit flavors and spices also come through. Another great offering from Jolly Pumpkin and possibly my favorite so far. ReRate 2/3/2008: On draft at Redlight Redlight. Exactly as described above, however I would give it a little less because the funk isn’t as prominent. Very good.
