Appears a dark mahogany with a small beige head that slowly fades out and leaves streaky lacing around the glass.
Smell is of brett, tart citrus, cherries, vanilla, plums, lemony zest, earthy notes, and brown sugar.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with some standout earthy mushroom, plum, and caramel flavors coming through on top of the brown sugar base.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, tart/sugary, well balanced. Lumpy (1802), Carrollton, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 28, 2007 Bottle Blend 1. Body-dark almandine with a quarter inch foamy head. Nose-woody, sour La Folie like nose, light funk, unsweet apple juice, pot roast spices, light vegetable rot (in a good way), light urea. Taste-thin horse, black tea, cherry, medium wood tannins, light cheap Chardonnay, raw leather, kind of squash like vegetables, corn water, malt vinegar, slightly astringent tea like tannins really come out and dominate. Very complex and layered. I am very surprised by the malt vinegar/tea flavor combination. ratman197 (3238), Arvada, Colorado, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 25, 2007 Bottle courtesy of golubj. Poured a murky brown, bog color with light brown head. Aroma is heavy on a sour oak, with fruit, caramel, yeast and maybe flowers. Flavor was much of the same. Almost a little bit too sour for my liking. Other flavors were wood and caramel; not as much dark fruit in the flavor. Some aging might do this some good. BeerandBlues2 (3225), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 25, 2007 750 mL bottle purchased at Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Blend 1, 2007. Pours mahogany with an average, fizzy, light brown head, somewhat lasting after initially fading somewhat, fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel), average hops (citrus, flowers), average yeast (earth, basement) with notes of sour cherries, wood, and figs. Medium bodied, fizzy and bubbly texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter, metallic finish. Long duration, light sweetness, heavy acidity and bitterness. This one needs to sit a while, IMHO, as it seems very raw. The 9% ABV is well-hidden beneath the soured fruit and wood flavors.
