Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza

Bottled. Poured cloudy gold and bubbly, with a dense, foamy, white head. Nose was yeast, pears, and floral hops. Flavor was yeasty, fruity, and tart, with hints of spiciness. The finish was tary and dry. Another great offering from Jolly Pumpkin.

Kevbo and I spilt this one again. Hmm is this an Abbaye de St. Bon Chien (2006) clone? Pours a light yellow to orangish yellow color with a 1/2" head. Light lacing as the head dies down to a 1/4". I swear you can smell the water and there’s something I can’t quiet place. Sour, tart, lightly sweet. I swear to go if I didn’t know it this is very very similar to BFM’s Abbeye de St. Bon Chien (2006). Lightly carbonated with a medium light body. I could drink to of these and then be somewhere very close to heaven. "Would an Abbeye de St. Bon Chien by any other name be as sweet?"

[bottle] Poured golden with smallish head, but the beer was well below the recommended serving temp. Aroma was brett funk, a little bit of fresh hops, spices, and some yeasty-ness. Flavor was tart but way overspiced in my opinion. Aftertaste was dry and spicy. Just a bit too much.

Bomber bottle. Total fizz bomb; lost a good 1/4-1/3 of the bottle upon opening. Giant rocky white head, as you might expect. Otherwise, cloudy straw/golden with some small floaters. Good head retention, featuring nice lacing. Wonderful aroma of citrus, banana, clove and pepper. Gentle, smooth taste with the aroma flavors, dominated by banana and spice. Finishes tart, dry and a bit sour. Medium bodied, effervescent, smooth. No alcohol. Great beer, though I have to penalize it (in appearance) for the initial overcarbonation.

Cloudy golden-orange with no head. Citrus, honey, and grass aroma notes. Orange, sour fruit, and spice flavours. Sour, bitter finish.

Made a little mess upon opening (not as bad as luciernaga, but still watch out). Aroma of sweet oranges, flowers, a little spice. Alcoholic flavor, sweet (too sweet actually). Thick doughy yeasty feel, a little heavy-handed, and lacking finesse. This might be a lot better with half the alcohol.

Capped 750. Pours a Clear gold with a massive and fluffy white head. Medium-light body and moderate carbonation. Some funk, spice and lemon in the aroma. Lemony tartness in the taste, along with some fruit, spice and funk. Dry woody finish. One from the refreshing side of a beer style that’s all over the board.

bottle: pours a evervescent golden straw colour with a big fluffy snow white head. some lacing aroma is very nice a good white grape aroma and other fresh fruits, a[pricots adn pear. good amount of some JP funkiness adn some solid wood aroma. the aroma finishes with a spice note. flavour is a tart fruitiness with a funk that is a little acidic. has a good amount of earth too the front and finish . has a sharp spice note adn finishes real dry. i like it
