750 mL bottle - yikes!! as with some recent reviews, my was a big time gusher as well; my kitchen sure smelled great though!! once settled down and into a glass, it’s big white head fell flat in the middle and had lots of lacing; a very hazy gold with aromas of yeast, spice and sour fruit; yeast and bread flavors with some spice in the finish; lots of carbonation; impressive except for the mess

750 ml bottle-A hazy golden body with a nice tight white head(no gusher) and an aroma of yeast, honey, hops, and a little sourness. Taste of this light to medium bodied brew is of the same with a wee bit of alcohol and a brief surfacing of the sourness coming out otherwise a nice tasting brew.

Ahh, my first gusher. 750ml, courtesy of Headbanger. Bummer too cuz I like the beer. Pours a very hazy yellow orange color with a huge frothy, sticky white head. Smells of red wine, spices, and oak. Tastes spicy, red wine and fruite sweetness followed by a spicy wine, oak finish. Medium body, highly carbonated, but not offensive. Wish I hadn’t lost half the bottle.

Appearance is hazy gold with bountiful frothy rocky head and gorgeous patterns of lace encircling glass. Aroma is must, citrus rind, and soap. Flavors are JP signature: dry, yeast, flower, citrus rind finish. Mouthfeel is soft, with good level of CO2 for the beer.

750 ml bottle. Pours a semi clear orange yellow gold with a thick frosty and foamy white head. Aroma of pepper, spice, and sour fruit. Taste is peppery with spicy undertones and hints of sour apples, pears and vinegar. Typical Jolly Pumpkin brew.

Pours a hazy golden colour with mostly lasting, creamy white head that leaves globs of lace. There is dark sediment pitting the bottom of the glass. The nose is sour and filthly with tart, cider-like apples, brett yeast, oak, vinegar, pear and corrinder. The flavour is like a fruit bouquet with an overlain sour, tart element of barnyard funk. The flavour is initially abrassive, peppery and funky, but it finishes tart and sweet, with suggestions of pear juice and granny smith apples. The mouthfeel is airy, sharply carbonated, full-bodied and bone-dry in the finish.

750ml $6.99 Binnys Orland As soon as I popped the top on Oro de Calabaza the gushing began. Not just a little gushing either I probably lost a quarter of the bottle. The pour yields a three finger fluffy micro-bubbled head that leaves sticky lacing on its way down. The head sits above a hazy golden body that’s bursting with carbonation. The gushing stirred up some of the yeast which creates a lot of the haziness. Smell is bursting with orchard fruits. Juicy pear, underipe apple, and a handful of apricot. The pear is most prominent and very enjoyable. The oak aging is certainly visable but in the background letting the fruitiness shine. As this beer warms there’s a hint of blonde tobacco which I’m thinking may be from the barrel aging. Flavor picks up where the smell left off. The pear leads the way with apple and apricot in tow. A quick bright flash of sourness washes over the tongue mid-palate before disappearing like it was never there. This might be my favorite from Jolly Pumpkin. This is their offering I usually find myself picking up. The mouthfeel is one of the areas Jolly Pumpkin just does right. Light bodied with high carbonation turns the body airy as it travels through the mouth. This beer is far too easy to drink when taking the abv into consideration. Light bodied with prickly carbonation and bright flavors make this a refreshing brew. Jolly Pumpkin makes some great beers. You never know what you’ll get with each bottle you pick up. Some batches are good, some great, and some ok. That’s my only complaint about Jolly Pumpkin is the consistency, of course I’m sure it’s practically impossible to be consistent using bacteria to ferment every batch and that’s what makes Jolly Pumpkin special. 12/30/07

Bottle. Cloudy, orangey golden with a huge, creamy off-white head and a lot of sediment. Sour fruit aroma with some mellow oakiness. Refreshingly fruity flavours, yet very dry with some woodiness. Noticeable alcohol. An exciting beer, no doubt.
