A masterwork. A robust belgian strong ale with unparalleled complexity (at least compared to other US belgians). Pure gold with a stately off white head. Aroma of oak, spices, and tart fruits. Full, rich smooth maltiness with oak, citrus, and earthiness in the flavor. Finishes surprisingly clean for its complexity.

Bottled. Cloudy golden with a gigantic white foam. Lemony aroma with touches of yeast, white bread and coconut. Tart and lemony flavour of yeast, yellow fruit and coconut. XCrsp grassy finish.

Pours cloudy golden with a small white head. Aroma is a nicde mix of belgian funky yeast, oak and spice. Deep oak up front with a tart flavor hitting the mid pallete, then dry with some spicyness. Leaves a dry but tart taste in the mouth. Original.

Plenty of foamy white head. Aroma has a dry, nutty, earthy yeast, though it’s not terribly funky. Some soft doughy sweetness from the malt and a hint of oak toastiness. Flavor is right away lightly bitter and almost citric. The yeast kicks in and dries it out as well as the alcohol

bottle. pours hazy light gold with a thin but lacy head. aroma of cantelope and glue. yes glue. i tried associating it with something else but elmers stuck in my mind. definitely a strange funky odor. the taste was tart, doughy and fruity with a very mild bitter that hung around in the aftertaste. nice slight warming in the throat from the alcohol. great palate - carbonation prickled the tongue but did not distract from taste. the aroma really held me back. i like musty, funky belgains but this aroma was slightly unpleasant. i think i’ll grab the bam bier over this in the future but i’ll have to re-rate this at some point. re-rate: i stashed a bottle of this in the cellar for six months and boy was i pleased with the results. the strange aroma i noticed the first time around melded with the rest of the profile and the palate dried out a bit more. this made for a crisp, light bodied, spicy, funky belgian with plenty of depth.

750 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy honey yellow with a moderate-large white head that lasted through mid-glass and left some curtains of lace. Very nice aroma of lemions and spice. The flavor was was a disappointment. This beer was quite tart but surprisingly dull in flavor. Scant lemon citrus with a bit of cinammon noted towards the finish. Perhaps the most focused flavor was the alcohol. Dry, carbonated mouthfeel. This beer started with great promise, but did not deliver.

Appearance: Hazy medium blonde with a thick moussey belgian head. Aroma: Malt and hay, grass light citrus and a bit of fermentation spiciness. Flavour: Sour and sweet, like a saison with a dose of sourness. Wheat, orange peel and a pleasant yogurty lactic sour character. Mouthfeel: Light and fluffy with a prickly carbonation. Overall: Wheaty and winey with a clean yogurt, lactic sourness, Sharp but not overpowering - lets the other more subtle aspects of the flavour profile come through. Very easy drinking.

750 ml in Duvel glass. Hazy golden yellow with dense puffy white head and lace. Lemony hop and spice aroma. Dry fruity citrusy-apricot flavors with mild sweetness and spicy tart finish. Medium-light body (for 8%), medium-carbonation. Extremely refreshing and extremely tasty. Love it.
