Pours WAY freaking carbonated. The bottle is just sitting here and it keeps foaming over. WTF!? Other than that it is a solid brew, very fruiyt smell, taste and finish. A little more sour than the others of this style, which I happen to like.

Musty, funky nose, slightly fruity, very Belgian. Symphony of flavors, musty, spicy, fruity very long finish. Excellent. Only downside, twas a gusher.

Pours a hazy yellowish-golden color. Aroma is slightly musty with a bit of citrus in it. The aroma reminds me of the Brett yeast used in New Glarus’ Belgian Quad. Anyway, taste is of that musty-funky spontaneous yeast (you go boy!) and a bit of fruitiness. I’m picking up some pineapple and a bit of lemon in it as well. Overall, not bad but as PorterPounder stated it’s a freakin’ gusher!

Mildly sour smell. Doesn’t really do it for me. Acidic in the finish. Initial taste is good, but aftertaste is not as good as I would like it to be.

Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 750 ml bottle - about a quarter of which cascaded out the top upon opening! Hazy, brilliant medium golden pour with a very thick and sticky white soapy head that sticks around....for too long! Spicy aroma, hints of yeast, lemon and coriander. Same essences are found in the flavor which is clean and refreshing and not as sour as some Biere de Gardes. Just the right amount of sourness in the finish though to make it interesting. Finish has a hint of caramel as well. Slightly spritzy - but not enough to make it distracting. Overall, pretty decent - though I was quite pissed when I opened and it spewed everywhere!

Thanks to Ohiodad- this is more what I expected from a BdG- it’s funny that I am a devout non-hophead, yet this is my favorite style. I guess because the hops can be so subdued and used in a way that doesn’t say, Hey look at me, I have 3,000 IBU’s. And that is what this beer does. Great golden color with a pleasent farmy nose and lasting head. Dry, but the alcohol is very present, especially in my melon right now.

Aroma is like that of a gueuze. Spicy and funky, yeast and sour woodiness. Mild alcohol vapors. Awesome, like straight from Belgium. Mild hazy golden body with foamy lacing white head. Medium watery body with medium carbonation. Great flavor, like I’m sitting in Belgium. Funky farmhouse Belgian tastes, yeast and Brett. Gueuze sourness with mild bitter finish. Just wonderful, hard to believe this is from Michigan and not Belgium. Tangy bitter after.

750ml bottle, pours hazy pale color with white head. nose is very delicate with soft peppery notes, mild sourness, and lemon grass. flavor is so pleasant, easy to drink, and fun to also. feels very light on the palate, but crisp soft coriander, lemon, oak, pleasant amount of tartness, a real gem. finishes yeasty and dry with no alcohol trace. reminds me more of a saison than straight up biere de garde. although it’s one of my least favorite jp labels, it’s one of the my favorite jp beers..

another tasting of a 18-24month old bottle (oval label) proves that this beer is aging wonderfully. perhaps it’s not as peppery but crisp, lemony, oaky, more sour, and very soft acidity. awesome beer. 4.1

750ml bottle. oval label. at least 2 years old. best bottle of JP i’ve ever had period! wonderful. magic. reminded me a lot of temptation but not quite as sour. still lots of tart notes with white wine/grape finish. amazing. 4.2.
