Hazy but bright yellow colour with a mostly lasting creamy and fizzy white head. Pear, grapefruit, yeasty, funky, and fruity aroma. Tart lemon, orange, yeasty, sour, fruity, and earthy flavours. Light bodied, fizzy but refreshing. French farmhouse style taking on some lambic qualities. Still a good thing right now, but may be heading the wrong way. cbkschubert (1989), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

Faint lacing. Aroma is kind of complex. It’s light lemon, banana, spices, light yeast, and light esters. Flavor is much of the same. Light to medium body. A smooth easy drinking beer. A good beer. oakbluff (300), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 17, 2007 Second Jolly Pumpkin I have tried, and the second gusher. Lovely start to things! Quickly poured out to avoid having to lap it up off of my bar top. Aroma is really funky and difficult to describe. Old socks or something. After the gusher of foam in my glass settled down, a lovely golden ale awaited. Very sour with a decent amount of citrus fruit. I thought the aroma was actually more peppery than the taste. Once you get used to the funkiness, its a nice smooth sipper. Carbonation is about right. Finish is dry, and woody. This was a lot more refreshing than I thought it would be. Alcohol is quite muted, and overall this is a unique and tasty offering. illinismitty (1797), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Pours medium gold, slight haze, with a pillowy white head. Light and fizzy texture in the mouth. Aroma of lemon with some faint belgian funkiness. Initial flavor of citrus juice and apple that transitions to a bitter middle, with some sharp raw woodiness on the sides of the tongue. Finishes bitter and dry with notes of white pepper, chalk, and a wisp of alcohol. Well made and complex. I can see why people are excited about Jolly Pumpkin. However, my palate for Belgians is still developing. On a personal note, I would have enjoyed a little more residual sweetness. cschmelz (5), Yakima, Washington, USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Wonderful smooth drinking. Long lasting with fuzzy lacing. Some yeast flakes. Dirty yellow grapefruit colour. Fresh funky aroma with scents from the seaside and the farm. Tip of the tongue picks up tart lemon meringue notes. Zesty, lively fresh flavour. Finishes with a lemon desert taste that sinks into the teeth.
