Sour smell. Tart, lemony, slightly thin, some typical biere de garde mustiness. Wondeful yellow color. A good attempt from an interesting American brewery but you can get the real thing (Jenlain, La Choulette, etc) for less money. BiochemProf (53), Boone, North Carolina, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 29, 2006 Pristine white foamy 3-finger head atop an opaque golden pour. Great lace. Spicy aromoa with a stron g note of ... um ... juicy fruit gum? Small bubble mouth fell. Fruity taste is overwhellming ... a bit too much for me. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Dec 25, 2006 Bottle. Consumed on Christmas Day with my pal Josh. Bottle #3 of the evening (more to come). Pours clear yellow with a humongous white puffy head. The head came up really quick when I poured it into two matching Alesmith tulips. Light hoppy aroma with bits of citrus, but certainly a belgian feeling. Light sweet and fruity, with a hint of lemon (as contributed by Josh). The alchol is well hidden, by the lemon taste. Enjoyable and intriguing. jayme9874 (756), Hamburg, New York, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 21, 2006 Golden yellow, slight haze, big head, sticky lace. Nose of pale malts, cask, spices, honey, nuances of vanilla and others. Lively in mouth but soft, lush with peppery spices, solid malt backbone, citrus, honey, vanilla slight funk and a well integrated soothing alcohol warmth. A fine beer. huge head, every bottle of the Gold Pumpkin I have opened
gushes over, sour scent with citrus, yeast, malt, fruit, little funky grass and sweet, little spices,
pilsner, sweet, tartness, citrus, touch of sour, and carbonation on my tongue,
the first time I had this ale, I was really taken by surprise, the ale is sweeter in the mouth then the scents let on to, very nice drink, I think of the Gold Pumpkin as the Champagne of beers, 12-18-06 Rating 7-5-9-4-18=4.3

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Dec 15, 2006 Thanks to my Floridian Secret Santa for this one! Light hazy gold with a great, lasting head, about perfect to me, even had the lacing going on. Aroma was woody, with some hop bitterness and a good bit of funk. Flavor was barnyard, with some interesting faint sour apricot, plenty of dry wood, and some pencil shavings. Just a bit of a carbonation bite. Really great stuff, and one of the most convincing Belgian style ales I’ve ever had that was brewed by an American brewer. DrewTaylor (154), Michigan, USA

...a little citrus, maybe some strawberry, passion fruit, and there’s even a souson of asparagus and just a flutter of a nutty Edam cheese.
