Aroma was sour and somewhat fruity. I thought it was going to be a flemish sour after smelling this. The flavor was a huge dissapointment given the wonderful sour aroma. Very dry and weak tasting. Flavor had a bunch of herbal and grassy notes with none of the sourness hinted at in the aroma. Dry and very light. 8/4/5/2/11
Re-rate:
Bottled. Poured a perfect SOLID yellow. It looked like a yellow stone in a glass with an off white head. Aroma was sour, tart, barnyard, classic JP, sweet fruits: banana, orange, and lemon. Almost like a sour juicy fruit. Body was super smooth and made it tasted like I was eating beer. Slightly sweet banana and orange sponge cake is how I might describe it. Felt like a beer malt, like a solid block with a smooth velvet bottom sliding across the tongue. A tinge of barnyard in the finish, some tartness, but only enough to let you know, "Nukka I here!" nhorween (640), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Big sweet and spiced aroma, definite fruit (pineapple, cider), and only a hint of alcohol as it warms. Sweet up front with a peppery backdrop and very little bitterness. Floral, super faint hoppiness. Very sweet on the lips. Alcohol is hidden very well, slight yeast in the end. Dry finish. Nice, fresh mouthfeel. This is a fun beer, I think I would’ve liked it better in the summer, but I can appreciate it. I couldn’t really taste the alcohol. This is my first Jolly Pumpkin, and I can’t wait to try some more. Rerate - funky and a tiny bit sour. Soft, mushy flavors of peach and flowers. Nice beer. jason (1624), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA

Golden color with little activity. Very peppery flavor with another spice (candy) mixed in. Very well balanced and pretty smooth despite a slight alcohol burn. Finishes well and makes my mouth want more. Cheers! maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

Head did leave nice lacing on the glass. Notes of sour apple, honey, and spice. Flavor very strong on the yeast with some honey in the end. I also picked up some mild sour hints. This beer is very complex, but seems to go well together. Lemon notes, pepper notes, corriander notes. Smokey notes as it warmed and still all through was strong yeasty notes. Medium mouthfeel. Well balanced. Nice beer. xproudfoot (729), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 18, 2006 Thanks to Kook! Golden orange body with a good size white head. The nose is yeasty and lemon zest. Peppery in the taste without overpowering the flavour, light to medium body, more fruit coming through, easier to drink than the previous Biere de Garde tasted on the night.
