Taste is fruity, funky, sour, tart. Medium bodied, dry, good, but it seemed more like a farmhouse/saison style. pantanap (1374), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Smells like it will be slick and lightly sour. Deep red amber color. Large to small frothy head that dies slowly. Green apple, oak, light sourness. Makes me feel like I’m sitting at a large wooden table in a musty castle. A monk walks in and pours the lovely sour ale and beside it plops down a plate of swiss gruyere cheese and a loaf of sour bread. Oh it would be nice to have the bread and cheese here too. Reminiscent of the Red Poppy I had yesterday. I can’t help but wonder in a side-by-side blind tasting how it would stand up. Very nice dinner beer. beerbuzzmontreal (2931), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 8, 2008 Pours a hazy amber color with ruby highlights and a thin white head. Very pleasant aroma of green apples, brettanomyces, wood and lingering sourness, smells like a Jolly Pumpkin to me! Solid flavor of wood, melon, cantaloup, brett, green apples, sourness with a mild bitter finish, the flavor is very assertive and powerfull, I love it. The body has a medium thickness with a creamy texture and moderate carbonation. This is another testament of Ron Jeffries’ masterfull brewing art, kudos! rayg1 (445), Ft. Mill, South Carolina, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 3, 2008 Bottle that Ross shared with me, Thanks. A strange beer for me, nothing really jumped out at me with this one. It was good, but for some strange reason I didnt get a whole lot out of this beer. It looks like muddy a muddy brown with a tan head but not very thick. Smell is heavy on the oak and barrel notes with some vanilla and a little sour cherry notes. Flavor of the brett comes out pretty well some additional caramel notes in there as well. A fairly interesting beer, I almost wonder if Jolly Pumpkin tried to do too much with this one. As hard as I try I can’t pick anything specific about it that made me love it. It was good but nothing spectacular. 5000 (2640), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 1, 2008 Bottle: Deep caramel, thick and hazy, moderate light beige head, fizzy, dies quickly leaving spotty lacing.   Oh my lord,
wonderful Oaken nose, seems tart, slightly floral, a smidgen sweet.   Just wonderful!   Soft Oak flavors on the tongue, minor
tartness, a little dry.   A sweetened yet tart floral aspect surrounds this one.   However, the Oak imparts the best impression.
This is like an Oaken table beer, very easy to drink, clean, crisp, and just lovely.   Nose yields more promise than it delivers,
wished it was a bit more tart and dry.   Still good nonetheless.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate, slightly dry, with a touch of
sweetness.   Good stuff!   The aroma is where it is at on this one.   Thanks Chris for this righteous brew!
