Aroma of sour funk, including pineapple, oak, and light spices. Musty. Strong funky body, with pineapple, a touch of apple juice, and light sweet breads in addition to barrel. jimmack (1221), Nutley, New Jersey, USA

Murky dark orange/brown color with a small beige head that left nice lacing on the glass. Nice fruity, yeasty aroma of honeydew melons, oak, light Brett and a bit of brown sugar. The Brett was more noticeable in the flavor, as was the oak and tropical fruits. Also some citrus fruits as well. Nice tart finish. dmac (1503), Toms River, New Jersey, USA

Aroma on this is super with tons of funk, wood, yeast and sour fruit. Poured a muddy swamp water brown with a small frothy light brown head. Big funk filled flavor with some fruit and wood. Medium bodied with easy carbonation. This was some really god stuff. pnista (1008), Bloomington, Indiana, USA

Sour but not overwhelming nose. Fruity cherry oaky nose with some almost peppery hops, some spice. Subdued body, not viscous, watery, or under or over carbonated. Lightly sweet with a dark malt hint. Some strong fruity spicey character. Malt is oaky, a bit creamy with some yogurty tatness. A bit of diacetyl, but still a dry oaky finish. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 13, 2007 Updated: Dec 13, 2007Been waiting a while to rate this in hopes the bourbon died out a little. Well it has, very mellow, but in the process everything else has mellowed as well. Was expecting a bigger bug influence, very subdued throughout. Aroma consists of light bourbon, vanilla, mango, tart apples and some brett sourness. Flavor starts with the bourbon/vanilla combination. Through the middle you get a nice tart/sour twinge, fades to dry wood/oak tannins. 3.8. Original rate was a 4.0 from the MBG ’06. Radek Kliber (3986), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada

Appearance : Foggy amber with very small ring holding glass
Nose : Sour vanilla and touch with hint of burnt rubber. Semi smooth alcoholic warmth. Between those elements you might find grainy-woody mentions.
Flavour/Palate :Medium bodied , sour oak welcomes frontal palate. Flat, short living spectacle. Late middle of citric burst wrapped in vanilla. Can’t say this ale was not complex but missed the mark by wide margin.

Shared with SuIIy on 8/24/07 Lovely pour, as usual, for JP, with a large, white, well-aerated head that leaves sticky, webby lacing everywhere and is retained well. Body is a copper-peach with medium to medium-high clarity. Intense brett fruitiness in the nose runs the complete spectrum of yellow fruits, tropical fruits, and even some light citrus notes. Very strong and with some moderate oak tannin to calm things down lightly. Light honey notes from the malts are not overattenuated, and there is definitely a huge complexity to be found here with all the other critters lending their talents (definitely a bit of lactic and even malic acid). The only problems I found with the aroma, which never peters out, even at the end, were a strong woodiness that gives a bit of sharpness, exacerbating the already dry, somewhat fuselic alcohol notes present on the end. Just a fun, fairly straightforward wood and brett beer in flavor, with a strong texture due in part to the tight, engaging carbonation and moderate maltiness. Tart on the end, of course, and perhaps even borderline sour. Peaches, pears, limes, mangoes, nectarines....very estery and delightful. Some alcohol warmth on the finish. Great stuff. Looks like the waiting paid off on both the carbonation and bacteria categories, as many early reviews complain of too low carbonation and not enough wild yeast influence. bu11zeye (5621), Frisco, Texas, USA
