Aroma of wet wood, wine barrel (red wine), caramel and a hint of vinegar. Taste is caramel, lightly tannic and light bitter with some vinegar, brett and florals. Not super sour, but beautifully balanced and easy to drink. Light bubbles. Great. TAR (2095), Boulder Co., Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 31, 2009 Lightly hazed rufous. Minute yet condensed white foam. Vibrantly lactic, stewed peach aromas with dabs of iron, fresh leather, and distant nutty oak and straw-tinged malt. Soft and slick in body. Oak and minerals immediately grip the palate with a tight clinch as slick notes of acetic acid try to take foothold. Brett-generated minerals bludgeon many of the subtle esters and phenols, as well as the powdery malt textures. Soft tropical fruit and juicy leather suggestions link up with assertive stewed-peach fruitiness and coconut-shaded oak. Savory interplay between the peach and springy malt, though the center lacks depth. Tartness is understated yet well-rounded. Finishes with a vaguely defined dusting of oak and straw with peach fuzz bitterness trailed by an astringent bite of acetic acid reminiscent of uric acid. Not very impressed with this...very fuzzy and muddled. Nose is overrun with acetic acid, and there is little in the way of depth or yeast/phenolic/estery nuance. I adore this brewery, but this is not one of Ron’s finer efforts. Thanks for sharing, mj. ¾ (4999), Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 11, 2009 750ml bottle. Pours clear copper with a white head. Nose is intense white wine grapes, musty barnyard lacto and pedio... horseblanket, leather, olive oil, red apple skins... intense, beautiful. Body is oily up front, big, full, chewy, syrupy... then a medium acidity, some oily and tart olives, canola, that sort of thing. Finish is herbal tarragon, black pepper, roasted pears, prickly and tannic oak... awesomely strange stuff. kramer (2472), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 24, 2009 25 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy orangish amber body with a very small fizzy off-white head that faded very quickly. Lots of visible carbonation. Very funky nose, lots of brett and a little bit of sweaty feet and horse blanket. Oak, light apple cider vinegar, and some lighter sweet caramel maltiness. The flavor is very dry, slightly tart, with a restrained acidity. Lots of JP house character here, prominent oak, light cider vinegar, and some vanilla. Mouthfeel is dry and mouth puckering with a lingering funk laced finish. This was a nice one, it stands up to the best of American Wild Ales out there. Pailhead (2602), Allen Park, Michigan, USA

Bottle: The aroma consists of apple, oak, lemon, and vanilla. It pours a transparent amber with some sediment and a small off-white head. The flavor starts with sour apple up front. It finishes with modeate vanilla and faint oak. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. mpersinger (183), , California, USA

Aroma is wine like with quite a bit of wood. Lemon/citrus, yeast and nail polish. Flavor is pretty tart and vinegar like but has a bunch of oak. Very heavy oak and dry finish. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 1, 2009 Big thanks to Beerlando for sharing. Cloudy amber with a thin broken white head. Sour fruity aroma, peppery classic JP funk, slight tartness, gets fruitier as it warms a bit. Great taste - I taste a lot of La Roja-like influence, subtle sour tones, almost a lingering sour cherry note. Subtle.
