Poured a hazy yellow color with a thick white head that diminished to a layer and left some spotty lacing. Lightly tart, yeasty aroma with some hints of lemon and funk. Tart, funky lemon entry leads into a moderate wheat character followed by a funky yeastiness. Low carbonation, smooth on the palate. Pretty one dimensional with no real hefeweizen spices, it resembles more of a berliner weisse. I don’t know if it’s fair to classify this as a hefeweizen. It’s a decent beer, just nothing out of this world, and definitely not what was advertised. Crosling (1856), Loveland, Colorado, USA
| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 8/20 | Sep 14, 2008 Yellow/white color. White foam lasts in a decent manner. Smells very lactic and sour, with out much besides that. It’s missing hefe elements as well as some oak character. Nothing even close to yeast driven esters here. It’s purely sour and unbalanced. No complexity. Just a poorly soured ale. TheEpeeist (1499), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA

Nose is wheat, lemon custard and sour milk funk. Starts out wheaty with a full hefe mouthfeel but gets light and tangy with a clean finish. Taste is lemon, lime zest and faint spice. Almost worthy of its own style. Unique and quite enjoyable. stouby (1959), Holbaek, Denmark

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Sep 6, 2008 Much thanks to SoLan for bringing this down from O-town. Pours a cloudy gold with a fingernail of fizzy white head. Lovely nose of citrus, sour yeast, and wheat. Flavors are abundant with grains, banana, orange peel, spice, grains, bread, subtle vanilla, and subtle soap. The flavors finish quick and dry. As always with Jolly Pumpkin, this beer is refreshingly sour with an emphasized presence of Brettanomyces. High carbonation and medium body. Very good, though not my favorite from the Bam series. frylock (1029), Buffalo, New York, USA
