Commercial Description:
The fourth in our Bam Farmhouse series, and perhaps our most adventurous; a traditional farmhouse style hefeweizen. Weizen Bam seamlessly blends traditional German style hefeweizen yeast with our own local wild and sour cultures, for a melange of the most flavorful sort. Ruddy golden, with yeast driven esters of banana, spicy clove, and nutmeg all wrapped up with a generous dose of good-natured rapscallion delight.

Cask. Pours a golden body with a light white head. Sweet fruity wheat notes with a light sour lemongrass and hints of banana bubblegum spices. Thin and session able. Good call.

On cask at Rattle N’ Hum NYC. very cloudy straw/yellow gold body, no head. Aroma is brett, sour wheat malt, and bubblegum. Flavor is tart and sour yet smooth and slick mouthfeel. Low carbonation (cask) and a bit of funk, much like a wheaty saison/sour and then a slightly bitter finish like grapefruit juice.

Tap @ Rattle ’N’ Hum. Golden pour. Has a subtle sour aroma with mostly wheat. Flavor only has slight sour tinge, along with the farmhouse flavor.

hazy golden appearance with large white head, interesting combination of weizen and belgian esters to the nose. very high carbonation. a reasonable hop bitterness, followed by belgian fruitiness followed by some grainy wheat malt and some mild banana/cloves flavor, the finish is not as dry as many jolly pumpkin brews, but is rather dry. good beer from a unique brewery

22 oz. bottle from Ludlow Wines in Cincinnati. Pours cloudy pale yellow with active carbonation and frothy white head. Aroma of lemon, banana, and spice. Tart, sweet flavor of lemon, banana, spice, yeast, metallic notes. Crisp, refreshing, light mouthfeel. Short, sweet, sour/tart finish. Very nice summer brew, excellent session beer.

I shared a bottle of this with BeerBaron617 on the night before he left for Basic Training. For such occasion, this beer didn’t disappoint. This beer pours an almost greenish yellow color. It was very cloudy, and had a big fluffy white head. The aroma is not like any of the Jolly Pumpkin beers we’ve had before. Actually, this is one of the first beers that I have gotten a real banana aroma...Usually Belgians are more typical of this aroma, but It’s all here in this beer. It almost seems like Jolly did more with this beer to make it less Jolly, and more "Wheat Beer"...I mean, Jolly typically does their beer in their own signature way, and this beer seems more like what you would typically get from a German Hefeweizen...at least with aroma :) Now taste, that’s a different story. Typical Jolly Pumpkin all the way. Highly carbonated, sour, clove, and it has a creamy mouthfeel.

Bottle: Very pale yellow, thick and cloudy, large white fluffy head, a few rings of lacing.   Tart nose, very musty, slightly floral.   This smells like a cross between a Saison and a Biere de Garde.   Not very German Hefe like.   Even has aspects of a Sour Ale.   Quite a tart beer, a little sweet, minor wood character.   Even though this is nothing like a German Hefe, it is tasty in its own right.
