(Bottle) Wow, tastes like a real dunkelweizen! Strange, but good. Fruity, simultaneously rich and light. Complex. Weird. Good. I can never describe Dunkelweizens, because they’re so weird. But I like this one. It’s the most banana-y dunkelweizen I’ve tried yet. Yet another good Trader Joe’s beer.

A nice beer in the tradional german dunkleweiss style. It didn’t have the distinction of a Hacker Pshorre, or Wiehenstaphener dark, but it was a very good beer of it’s style. Tasted pretty authentic.

Unfiltered amber with a medium tan head. Aroma of banan, clove and grassy hops. Taste of banana, clove, bubblegum. Malted body with a spicy finish and a little cloying. Seemed to lose most of its flavor as it warmed.

Very interesting flavor, reminds me of pumpkin spice ale. Interesting wheaty, smoky flavor. Nice. Friend said it tasted like a hot dog.

I think I’m rating the right beer (mine was branded as Trader Joe’s Dunkelweizen). Pours a very hazy and cloudy iced tea brown/orange colored. Head is big rusted off white. Smells like heffeweizen, wheat, clove, fresh. Taste is sweet malt, dark, with honey and wheat, banana, lots of carbonation. So damn hazy, truly unfiltered.

Last beer sampled at BDR’s tasting and shared by JK. From a 12-oz bottle, pours a hazy brownish amber brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to an off-white ring. Aroma of caramel malt, some yeast/banana esters, cloves, and a touch of citrus zest. Taste is medium bodied, some light carbonation with flavors of dark multi-grain malt, some banana esters, clove and a touch of lemon zest. Finish is semi-sweet, with a mild banana aftertaste that quickly disappears.

Bottle. Cloudy copper. No head only a small ring of white foam around the edge of the glass. Nose is spicy with banana, sweet malts and light caramel. Almost candyish in spots. taste is wheat, banana, soft bubblegum, caramel and spice. Hints of lemony tartness here as well. Body is bubbly and light-medium. rather refreshing. Almost thirst quenching. Ends with more banana, wheat, candy notes, soft fruit and caramel. Light yeast notes here as well. Not bad at all!

Slight citrus aroma with a touch of spice, perhaps not far from that of a Chimay. Very little head on top of an opaque, deep, gritty looking amber-brown. Taste is somewhat citrus with bitter-malt and slightly gritty mouthfeel. Lots of sediment on the bottom of this bottle. Quick finish. Decent, but not great.
