Commercial Description:
JosephsBrau Hopfest is a German-style Pilsner featuring imported noble hops from Bavaria. Hallertau bittering hops provide a refined bouquet of spice tempered by mild floral Tettnang hops. The resulting brew offers a crisp counterbalance of robust bitter notes and a dry finish.

pale yellow under a small white head. aroma of alcohol, pear syrup, banana but not really in a good way. flavor is of pears, residual sugar. watery, over carbonated texture. i wasn’t impressed with this.

Bottled. Poured clear, bright golden with a short cap of white head and some rising carbonation. The aroma picked up sweet bready notes accented by lemon zest and greener, floral hoppage.. hints of smoke if you really stick your nose in there. The flavor had the same bready notes supporting the aforementioned lemon zesty bitterness.. some caramel and some tangy light fruity bitterness in there too.. finished a bit sharp with more bitterness than sweets. Lighter-bodied and fairly aggressive on the palate (bit too much so for the style).. dried out at the end and left a lengthy impression. Decent.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with a one finger snow white head and nice lacing. The nose is sweet malt and light pilsner yeast. Taste is malt, sweet grain and light hops. Medium mouth feel. Nothing special, but drinkable.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear golden with a small white head. Aroma is a honey sweetness and biscuits, mild spicy hops. A nice hoppy flavor with biscuity malts, a bit of green apple, much drier than the aroma suggests. Very astringent, which detracts from the experience a little and is reflected in my overall rating. Otherwise, seems like a pretty solid pilsner to me.

Not any hops in this aroma. There are some hops in this beer, but nowhere near a fest!! A little malty, maybe a little butter. Okay, but certainly not great.

12oz bottle from TJs poured into a white wine glass. Don’t know how fresh this is, stamp is completely useless. It is a clear golden color with a small head. Aroma is old grassy hops and lagered stale white biscuits. Taste is similarly uninteresting white bread malts and a hint of hop bitterness at the end. Eh, this is boring and useless.

12 oz bottle from Trader Joe’s Bakersfield. Nose of grassy hops and light corny graininess along with a tiny bit of skunkiness. Clear gold with a small white head.Flavor is slightly bitter and a touch of caramel. Another OK Biersch beer.
