Commercial Description:
JosephsBrau Hopfest is a German-style Pilsner featuring imported noble hops from Bavaria. Hallertau bittering hops provide a refined bouquet of spice tempered by mild floral Tettnang hops. The resulting brew offers a crisp counterbalance of robust bitter notes and a dry finish.

12 oz bottle. Pretty decent actually. Aromas were mild citrus hops with some malty yeasts. Flavors were more hoppy but still more on the malty side. Decent.

Yellow pour with thin head. Bready hop aromas and semi carbonated taste. Not bad for the price, but nothing to write home about.

From a 12oz Bottle. Slightly hazy, straw gold colored pour with a thin layer of wispy white head. Fresh, herbal hop aromas with a bready pilsner malt base. Moderate level hop aroma, but exceptionally clean and fresh. Medium light bodied, moderately carbonated mouthfeel with a soft texture. Clean, bready malt flavors up front on the palate. A bit soft in terms of mouthfeel; it lacks some of the crispness and mineral characters more trademark of a good German pils. Floral hop flavors come out mid-palate before finishing with a mild hop bitterness. Again, the hop flavors are clean and tasty, but lack much assertiveness in terms of bitterness.

Sharp fresh bite - like what I expect from a pilsner, except way over the top! Almost too bitter in my mind for the style. Very refreshing and would be amazing with spicy food. Golden in color, thin white head, lots of lacing. Aroma is sweet, grainy, and earthy.

12 oz. bottle from Trader Joes in Glen Allen, VA. Pours orange with a very slight haze. One finger head gives way quickly. Aroma is very grassy with a bit of skunk. Taste is grass, grain, skunk and a bitter finish that does not live up to the name. As esjaygee says, yes, this this is very astringent.... almost hot. What were they thinking here?

Golden yellow with a medium white head. Aroma of skunk, sweet perfumed malts and grassy hops. Taste of light caramel, sweet malt and grassy hops. Mega astringent body with a chewy talcy finish – sucks the life right off my tongue. A fest is fun. Hops are fun. One would thing when you put them together fun would ensue. Yuck.

Clear golden color with a big beige head. Aroma of grass and grainy malts. Flavor of sweet grainy malts with a bitter finish. Crisp.

Poured from the bottle an orange tinted golden with medium sized white head that faded slowly with some nice lace. Aroma was soft with a touch of spice, caramel, and some wet cardboard. Flavor is mostly malt with just a light touch of citrus, caramel, and a mild tart-bitter ending. Palate starts with a small amount of sweetness that goes with a light body and ends tart. Overall, cheap but lacks flavor and a good pilsner zing. The Hopfest name misled me. I thought there would be a stronger hop profile where I found virtually none. I would not get this one again.
