Commercial Description:
JosephsBrau Hopfest is a German-style Pilsner featuring imported noble hops from Bavaria. Hallertau bittering hops provide a refined bouquet of spice tempered by mild floral Tettnang hops. The resulting brew offers a crisp counterbalance of robust bitter notes and a dry finish.

12oz Bottle. A light cusp of hop leaf sugars and settled grain malt build a pilsener nose, a touch hoppy. Pours a middle gold-yellow, faintly translucent with a well-held rim in white. Flavor develops quietly. A medium-bodied grain sugar, with very distant and not distracting metallic and corn notes. Some deeper, toothier sugars show for a bit of complexity. Towards the end the hop finish comes on strong and rich. A good glowing Noble finish for a real crisp, bright smack. Not dusty. This isn’t bad! I think it’s a very respectable German Pils. Not much off-flavor, decent body, great balance and good hop finish. Suprisingly nice work.

Clear golden color with a big beige head. Aroma of grass and grainy malts. Flavor of sweet grainy malts with a bitter finish. Crisp.

Poured from the bottle an orange tinted golden with medium sized white head that faded slowly with some nice lace. Aroma was soft with a touch of spice, caramel, and some wet cardboard. Flavor is mostly malt with just a light touch of citrus, caramel, and a mild tart-bitter ending. Palate starts with a small amount of sweetness that goes with a light body and ends tart. Overall, cheap but lacks flavor and a good pilsner zing. The Hopfest name misled me. I thought there would be a stronger hop profile where I found virtually none. I would not get this one again.

Looks a bit darker than your typical pilsener. Unfortunately that is not a good thing as it makes it look like some seriously unhealthy urine. Finishes kind of watery and citrus-y. I do like the extra hop flavor, but not enough to make me love this pilsener.

Bottle, from Trader Joes only $1. Pours a clear golden beer with a light thin head. Aroma is grassy. Flavor is clean light earthy light hops and malt. Very clean refreshing beer, can’t beat the price.
