JK (2945), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Oct 4, 2009 Trader Joes. This is surprisingly good. Lacing head. Moderate carbonation and a gold colored beer. There is yeast and malt. Llightly hopped. Pretty solid, all considered. Good palate. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Sep 29, 2009 12 oz bottle from Trader Joes, Bakersfield. Nose of grain, light honeylike sweetness, and a touch of bubblegum. Very lightly hazed yellow gold with a medium white head that laces lightly. Flavor is a hint of sweet. some light bitterness, and some peppery spiciness. Good kolsch and only $3.99 a sixer. JPDIPSO (4863), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Sep 2, 2009 Light golden color with a small diminished white head. Some lace. Grains and white grape aromas. Some hints of grass as well. Fairly thick feel, but enough zip so that is does not get cloying or bogged down. Light grain and a bit of herbal hops. in the flavor. Slightly acidic, which makes it a bit quenching. Finish and linger is fairly dry and slightly bitter. mikeben (344), Naperville, Illinois, USA Aug 5, 2009 Pretty darn good. Refreshing not too bittewr but it aint mild. THis style isn’t as well known as it should be and I do agree that if this was an import people would be rating it higher. A good drink! Nate (2533), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 3, 2009 From bottle. Very mild aroma, with just a bit of hops and subtle malt sweetness. Not quite a corn aroma but a bit of something in there. Dull golden clear with thin white head. Medium watery body with medium carbonation. Starts with light beany hops character and light acidity, some malt sweetness that’s not too bad, maybe a little corn-like character. Finishes sweet with just a bit of hop bitterness and light carbonic acidity. Mild after. Not bad, but not great. Not really a good example of a Kölsch. rayOfBeer (316), El Cerrito, California, USA Aug 1, 2009 Poured from bottle a clear light-yellow with thin white head. Aroma of toast, hay and tart grass. Flavor is light and crisp with hay, tart grass, a touch of lemon and malt. Palate is carbonated crisp yet with a malty thickness that coats the tongue and a tart/bitter lingering finish. Overall not my favorite style but worth while on a very hot summer day. sethdude (600), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Jul 31, 2009 A nice Kolsch, underrated here IMO. Pours golden, thin white head and light lacing. Aroma is semi-sweet, malty with lots of hop pepper. Flavor is initially pale malts, a peppery hop note, a mild lemony note, bready warmth, and a bitter snap from the hops into a slightly spicy finish. Crisp, clean, and refreshing. I love this style, and this is a good example. Probably underrated due to the brand, which is unfortunate. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Jul 30, 2009 Source:12 oz bottle from Trader Joe’s.
