| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 16, 2007 Pours a transparent dark amber mahogany with a thin-lacing, frothy off-white head. Aroma of sweet dark toasty Munich malt has some bready notes and a hint of corn (DMS). Starts fairly full-bodied and caramely sweet with a pretty authentic German lager yeast strain and a toasty sweet dark caramel malty finish. A pretty good doppelbock. The taste was the same with sweet roasted flavor at the end. Not bad. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 15, 2007 Thanks to both shp555 and hopdog for sending this via Mystery Swap 2.0. Hazy deep brown pour with 1-finger khaki head. Aroma of roasty, nutty, brown sugary caramel and Munich malt, with some cinnamon and nutmeg noted in the aroma and flavor. Smooth, creamy palate, with a nice caramel, nutty flavor that finished smooth. jebert (123), Watertown, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 13, 2007 Pours a mahogany red with a large brownish tan head. First aroma is of caramel and malt. Taste has hints of caramel, chocolate, molasses and coffee, slightly sweet. Creamy on the palate with a bit of a hoppy aftertaste. A good everyday beer that pairs well with a brat and/or pretzels. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 11, 2007 Bottle. Fresh aroma but not overly strong. Porterish. Mostly clear body. Dark, reddish brown with a tan head. Creamy, lasting head with nice lace. English character. Dry. Alcohol is a little harsh. Pretty decent, although a little cloying. jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 7, 2007 12oz bottle from TBC2 (thanks!!) beer pours a nice dark brown true to the label, smells caramel and malty and continues in taste with the malt, a malty taste with almost a woody type ending. Nice beer, overall nothing too spectacular. rmussman (905), California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Mar 4, 2007 Another average Trader joes brew. It has a nice appearance and aroma but it just lacks a lot of good flavor. The beer goes down alright but it has a lingering aftertaste.
