Mar 31, 2006 12 0z bottle. Deep brown in color with a tan head. Malty and sweet candi sugar aroma. Caramel notes. Flavor is malty and very sweet. Smooth tasting. Finish is sweet. Nice beer.

Mar 31, 2006 12 oz bottle. Brown with a small head. Aroma is molasses and candi sugar. Taste is very malty and very sweet with a bit of sacharrin. The body is smooth with even more sweetness. This stuff is sweet. Did I say sweet yet? Sweet!

Mar 7, 2006 Updated: Mar 27, 2006Very small head from strong pour. Choclately and carmel aroma and taste which was very pleasant. Dark brownish red color. Very malty taste with minimal but noticable hops character.
Rerate: I bought a six pack at trader joes and the first one tasted pretty descent, but after that each bottle got harder and harder to finish. I kept noticing a metallic taste that just turned me off.

Mar 1, 2006 Gift from JMerritt. Aroma was sweet chocolate with some other spices that I couldn’t pick out. Pours dark brown with a nice off-white head. Really good taste with chocolate winning out.

Feb 23, 2006 Fairly fresh, 12 oz bottle (February 2006): clear, dark mahogany, minimal head. Nutty, malt aroma with subtle hints of chocolate truffles and bubble gum. Fruity plums finish the aroma and start the flavours, which quickly turn slightly bitter. Darkly roasted, oaky palate with quite a bit of sweetness and stickiness. Robust, caramel and honeycomb flavour along with sharp red grapes and a fresh bitterness. Pretty darn tasty.

Feb 9, 2006 Pours an amber color with thin off white head. Aroma is of caramel, spices, and a hint of fruit. Flavor is of spices and malts. Pretty decent brew for the price.

Feb 7, 2006 From a twelve ounce bottle purchased at "Trader Joe’s" - This one pours a very dark brown liquid with a fine-bubbled lasting head of tan foam and a malty aroma. Tsdtewise, this one has sweet, marzen-like beginning and a roasty finish, with some beguiling floral overtones. A fine bock beer.

Feb 1, 2006 Thanks to Sickboy for this one... Pours out a deep brown color with a small head. Aroma is toasted malts and maybe some brown sugar. Taste is not as burnt as some of this style, but has some interesting flavors throughout the drink. Finishes somewhat smoky. A solid brew.
