phishpond417 (1459), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Aug 14, 2008 Awesome beer, a step up from the few beers I had prior. Pours a clear amber colour with plenty of carbonation. Nice full creamy white head. A prevalent bitter but pleasent hop flavor that dominates the taste. Scattered lacing all around the glass. Flavors are midlly earthy, citrusy and firm. Ends with a crisp clean finish. Skyview (2922), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Jul 30, 2008 On draught at the brewpub in Madison, Wisconsin as "Whitney’s Bitter ESB." Pours a semi-clear copper amber brew with a nice off-white head that slowly dissipates to a fine film and off-white ring. Aroma of caramel malt, some toffee, roasted nuts and citrus zest. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors of semi-dry caramel malt, toffee, some toasted biscuit and lemon zest. Finish has a mild bitterness that lingers after the caramel malt aftertaste disappears. kp (6300), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Date: 06/22/2007

StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Sep 25, 2006 Billed as Brown Bear Bitter. Mostly translucent with a charming rosy-caramel-mahogany color and a tan ice wrung to compliment the top. Caramelized wheat stalks dipped in melted chocolate toffee lead the nose. Scotchy qualities give a sweet, granular aromatic pulse while a plum butter sauce gives a sweet, concord edge to the autumn-like aroma. Fuller-bodied than bargained for. Cookie Crisp cereal bars meet chocolate honeymaid grahams. Earthy bitterness reigns in and it thwarts the acidic twang. Milk chocolate saturated dates and a nuttiness from the toffee traits get complimented by the bitterness. Woodsy elegance hints at modestly dirty twigs set upon cocoa puff vats to laugh in the face of FDA standards. From a beer drinker’s standpoint, it works. hezron (594), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Mar 12, 2006 Light and fruity aroma, strawberry like. Just a hint of hops, very light. Orange in color with a nice and creamy, off-white head that retreats to the edge of the glass. Nice and fruity, again strawberry flavors with a grassy-grainy finish.
