Jun 18, 2009 On tap at the brewpub 8/9/08: Pours a semi-transparent dark copper mahogany with a pillowy-lacing dark tan head. Sweet toasty dark caramel nose has a good balance of milk chocolate. Body starts with good toasty dark caramel sweetness and some slightly grainy chocolate before a semi-dry pretty well-balanced finish. A pretty good porter.

Jan 10, 2009 Dark brown with a finger of thin, quickly vanishing head. Roast malt aroma, mostly tree fruits. Flavors are dark fruit on the fruit, some chocolate and dairy on the finish. Also a slightly off fusel element. Thin to medium body.

Aug 10, 2008 Very dark brown with red highlights. Nice off white head. Roasted nuts, coffee, and chocolate flavors. This is a sweet beer but one that has a nice amount of hop. It has a delightfully smooth feel to it. A very good porter.

Jul 30, 2008 On draught at the brewpub in Western Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a dark cola brown brew with a thin tan head that quickly dissipates to a thin tan ring. Aroma of toasted dark malt, some chocolate, roasted nuts and a touch of black pepper. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of toasted dark malt, a touch of chocolate and some coffee and roasted nuts. Finish is smooth, with a nice balanced dark malt and chocolate aftertaste. A solid porter overall.

Jun 29, 2008 Pours a dark brownish black colour with a small tan head. Nutty aroma with light roasted malts, caramel and black pepper. Taste is smooth, flavors of toffee, smoke and milk chocolate. Finishes slightly metallicy.

Mar 21, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. Poured a dark brown-black color. Nearly opaque. The head was light tan with good retention and lacing. Smelled of molasses, chocolate, and light adhesive tape. The flavor was equally uninspiring with only chocolate and a papery note.
