On tap at the brewpub 8/9/08: Pours a semi-transparent dark copper mahogany with a pillowy-lacing dark tan head. Sweet toasty dark caramel nose has a good balance of milk chocolate. Body starts with good toasty dark caramel sweetness and some slightly grainy chocolate before a semi-dry pretty well-balanced finish. A pretty good porter.

Dark brown with a hint of orange on the edges as held to the light. Small of white head. Dark malt and allspice aroma. Interesting cinnamon, light chocolate and blueberry flavors. Linger of dark chocolate. Somewhat different, but it works for me.

Dark brown, translucent, nice foam. Sweetish soft cherry-chocolate nose, light roastiness, rather smooth front with somewhat harsh bitter finish.

On draught at the brewpub in Western Madison, Wisconsin. Pours a dark cola brown brew with a thin tan head that quickly dissipates to a thin tan ring. Aroma of toasted dark malt, some chocolate, roasted nuts and a touch of black pepper. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonation with flavors of toasted dark malt, a touch of chocolate and some coffee and roasted nuts. Finish is smooth, with a nice balanced dark malt and chocolate aftertaste. A solid porter overall.

On tap at the brewpub. Poured a very deep iced tea brown with a short, splotchy beige head. Chocolate, some fruit, and phenolic notes in the aroma that just didn’t quite mesh right. Medium-roasted chocolate and toffee base to the flavor with some patchy coffee bitterness and a little earth. Medium-bodied and flat across the middle.. definitely could’ve been smoother and more tasty. Toward the end it picked up a nice cocoa presence. Meh.

Black color with a thin head. No real aroma; disappointing. Your typical chocolate and malt tastes. Eh, kind of boring.

Draft at the brewpub. Poured a dark brown-black color. Nearly opaque. The head was light tan with good retention and lacing. Smelled of molasses, chocolate, and light adhesive tape. The flavor was equally uninspiring with only chocolate and a papery note.
