phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Nov 20, 2008 One of the many pints of beer i had at JT’s while waiting for my computer to get fixed: poured a dull cloudy orange colour with a medium sized off white head. Aroma was ok, firm with hop notes and pine- but hops were sort of funny, not sure what kind they used. Taste was citrusy, chewy and definately nice and hoppy. All around a very citrusy powerful IPA noncaloric (601), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Oct 29, 2008 Updated: Mar 9, 2009I had this on the first or second day the batch was being served at the brewpub, so it was very fresh. Aroma is strongly floral and piney. Pours a murky amber, scant head. Flavor is strongly coniferous and citrusy, becoming sharply bitter on the mid-palate. Amidst it all, some worty vanilla elements manage to peek through. Palate is just plain tongue-peeling, but in a good way; cheeks are tingling for a long while after the glass is empty. Suttree (2701), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Apr 28, 2008 I’m not sure how to rate this one- there was such huge difference between the aroma - which i would describe as "wet dog" - and the flavor. The flavor was more or less typical IPA - Nice caramel malt base, clean crisp hop notes in the finish. What a pecular smell. At the Raleigh WBF. chimpscampee (556), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Nov 9, 2007 Updated: Feb 21, 2008JT Whitneys has nice micro brew pub with nice view of the brewing area and reastaurant and bar. The brew is affordable and have a nice variety of brew types but the brew is mediocre or less for a micro brewering reatuarant, with the exception of very good barley wine, smoked porter, old ale, and gran cru. The food is a bit pricey but good. If this place good up the quality of the brew it could be a red hot destination-- if places like Flossmoor Station can have very good beer than JT Whitney should be able to too. heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jan 17, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. Poured with a very cloudy golden ornage body. The head was very dense with a small bubbled white head. The aroma was oranges and toffee along wit some medicinal notes. The thast had some fairly bitter pine and grapefruit rind. The mouthfeel was thick and creamy. Decent. Brigadier (1211), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Jan 16, 2006 It came wth a creamy head and golden brown tone. The taste was very sharp and spruce. It was mildly bitter - enough that the hops was obvious in this one. Overall, it was OK but I would pick others from Whitney’s before this one. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jul 14, 2005 Hazy solid orange in color with a white creamy head. Subtle hop bouquet with some cardboard, standardized pils malt and cedar groves for aroma. Creamy and bitter. I like where this is going. Well balanced and medium bodied. Caramel malts for sweetening and honey suckle rose to contribute in the flavor department. Hops resonate most prolifically in the finish, but it’s a good, all-around tasting. Nothing surprising, but a solid rendition. hezron (600), Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA Jul 13, 2005 Served way too cold, so I let it warm up for 15 minutes or so. Aroma is a little light, with some grapefruit. Appearance is cloudy orange with little head. Flavor is interesting, with a bitter, earthy grapefruit. The finish is failry abrupt, with just some bitterness hanging around on the palate. Medium body, lively mouthfeel.
