Jubileumbier 1986-2006 (In de Wildeman)

12oz btl, courtesy of Fantomas23. I definitely didn’t think I’d ever be able to sample this beer, this is quite exciting. Clear orange pour, hardly any lacing. looks very thin, even a little watery for a Belgian wheat. Aroma is predominately coriander with medium intensity wheat, black pepper and anise. Palate is light to medium, bringing flavor very much the same as the aroma. Lots of spice up front and a snippet of orange blossom water sneaking in. Coriander and anise in good quantity, a well wrought combination. A medium carbonation level makes for a nice mouthfeel. A little spice in a light and refreshing finish that is medium-dry. Very nice witbier. Thanks a lot Adam, very kind of you to break this out when I visited.

Tap @ De Wildeman. Hopbitter start in the flavor, but then diacetyl (butter and yoghurt flavors) takes over. In the aftertaste a nutty bitterness returns. Not flawless, not too bad.

Gold, white head, liquroice, anise aroma - big powder sugar malt and herbs such as anise, good balance, tasty!

On draught @ Wildeman. Hazy blond with white head. Anise is the first thing that comes up in the nose, coriander as well. Sweet, herbal taste, very soupy, anise and coriander, anise gets cloying. I generally like it in milk, or as sprinkles on my sandwich. But not in a beer.

On draught at In de Wildeman (4/26/2006). The first thing to strike is the amount of anise. This is a very herbal beer. I see that it’s categorized here as a Belgian White. Interesting classification and probably accurate. I would suggest that this might also be classified as a Spice/Herb/Vegetable because it just reeks of anise. The ingredients are: water, gerstemout, suiker, hop, koriander, anijs. Finish is very dry and long-lasting. The bartender gave my wife and me a bottle each. I shared one last night and it seemed not as potent. The anise flavor was much more subdued and the finish was more sweet, less dry.

Soapy coriander flavor, very sweet, underfermented. Quite soapy, saturated with potporri and coriander flavors, fresh oranges as well, and lemon rind. Too soapy from the coriander, but still delicious.
