| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2009 ~ 6 oz sampler at the brewpub. Pour is slight haze brown copper, no head. Aroma of banana and clove yeast esters initially, some sweet honey malt sweetness behind that. Taste is a nice blend of the yeast and malt, nice. The banana clove spice and sweet malt meld nicely. Neither are overpowering, nice balance. Palate is medium, longish spicy finish. Nice one. This was the best of the sampler selection I had. RSRIZZO (1368), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 27, 2002 Draught. Body is dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of clove, allspice, and gingerbread. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Sure it’s vaguely Belgian styled, but it ain’t no biere de garde IMHO.
