~ 6 oz sampler at the brewpub. Pour is slight haze brown copper, no head. Aroma of banana and clove yeast esters initially, some sweet honey malt sweetness behind that. Taste is a nice blend of the yeast and malt, nice. The banana clove spice and sweet malt meld nicely. Neither are overpowering, nice balance. Palate is medium, longish spicy finish. Nice one. This was the best of the sampler selection I had.

Had this beer on tap at there pub on 4/23/2003. Aroma is a sweet roasted malt scent. Color is a deep amber with a nice head. Taste is sweet and malty with a faint fruitiness on the end.

Draught. Pours light amber with a very thin off-white head. Caramel malt aroma with a fruit hop and vanilla nose. Caramel malt with vanilla and citrus flavor. Light to medium bodied and smooth.

Draught. Body is dark amber. Aroma is lightly malty (caramel), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of clove, allspice, and gingerbread. Flavor is lightly sweet, lightly bitter, lightly acidic. Finish is lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Sure it’s vaguely Belgian styled, but it ain’t no biere de garde IMHO.
