Aroma is chocolate with a mixture of citrus, clove, and banana. Taste is the same, though very smooth with a strong flavor. Mouthfeel is extraordinary. A delicious dunkelweizen, my favorite of the genre (so far). aracauna (2385), Georgia, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 5, 2007 Pours a cloudy cinnamon brown with a big head. The aroma is really more phenolics than esters, more cloves and bandaids than bananas and bubblegum. The carbonation is a bit hard and the burn of bubbles on the tongue kind of deadens it to any other flavors in the beer. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 27, 2007 Pours a pretty cool looking cloudy reddish brown, with a huge, well retained light tan head. Big, malty dark fruit aroma, with a good dose of cinnamon and spices as well. Smells very nice. Inviting. The taste has a good amount of wheat, with a heavy malt base and some spice. Dark fruits come through in the end along with the cinnamon. Goes down nice and seems to be really balanced. I was impressed here. pretty tasty. nearbeer (1834), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Updated: Aug 23, 2008500 ml pours a cloudy brown-amber with a large head that lasts and leaves nice foamy lace. Aroma is spicy yeast, with some typical clove-banana, with a nice addition of nutty malt versus the typical Hefe. Flavor is dry and spicy, with a nice balance of caramel-malt, some wheat, bubblegum, and faint traces of the typical clove-banana. This beer seems a tad more malty than most dunkel weizens, and it works pretty well. Palate is dryish, carbonated and light-medium. zebracakes (1215), Washington DC, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 22, 2007 Bottle. Pours hazy caramel, off white head. Aroma is sour dough, spices, slight mustiness but not like a gueuze, yeast, wheat. Flavor is caramel, spices, wheat. On the gentle side. This is a pleasant beer. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 22, 2007 The aroma is quite muted, but holds hints of spice and clove. The body is a murky, muddy orange/brown and holds a two finger thick tan head that is mostly lasting. Lightly tangy, yeasty fore is folloed by watered down clove and spice notes. Gets slightly citrusy tart through the middle and finishes somewhat watery tasting. mvcramer (229), Arlington, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 20, 2007 Pours a nice hazy brown with a cream/beige colored head. Mild aroma of citrus notes with some clove subtlety. Appropriate level of sweetness on first taste - not overdone at all could have been a bit sweeter for me. Excellent medium body that fills up your mouth. Perhaps I expected more from this beer, but it didn’t have that "wow" factor for me. I liked it; didn’t love it. beerbomb (172), New Jersey, USA
