Bottle served in a weizen glass: Pours a cola brown topped by an excellent off-white fluffy head and lace. The aroma has notes of subdued clove and banana, some wheaty and yeasty esters, hint of pumpernickel bread, rye, and caramel. Sadly, the flavor does not match my initial perception of the brew. While I get some nice weizen characteristics, the dunkel side doesn’t play as well, soft and sweet malt when a little more burnt or biting malt would have likely been a better fit. The clove and pepper on the finish does help my overall impression of the palate profile. Enjoyable but not among the better Dunkelweizens I have had.

Light brown in colour with a fair bit of haze. Strong aromas fo banana, and sweedish berries candy, along with a hint of vanilla. The roasted grain element is quite restrained, and the banana and vanilla flavors don’t get too overwhelmed. There’s a bit of a minty hop finish on the end too, which is an elegent touch. Great heavy body on this one too. Many thanks to shrubber85 for the extra.

Cloudy caramel brown darkening up the glass. Healthy eggshell head. Light aromas are mostly bready with some alcohol, cinnamon/toffee and light citrus. Smooth but full palate, drying and nutty finish, lots of grains, yeast, cloves and spice, a hint of banana/citrus. Good integration of the flavors here. Better than your typical dunkelweisse. Best cold.

Bottle. Sweet, honey-like musty aroma. I smell mustard. Lots of yellow mustard aromas in this. Yep, sourish mustard aroma. Not sure if I enjoy that aroma in a beer...Transparent copper color with a fizzy light khaki colored head. Somewhat metallic flavor to start, with some bready and mildly chocolate flavors in the middle. Dusty, grainy. Finishes with a bit of fizz and some more of those mustard-like flavors. I don’t get any of the banana and clove flavors that I am accustomed to in weiss beers. I don’t really know what to think of this.

loved it. good appearance if you’re into the cloudy rust color with a nice 3" head. goes in sweet and the palate at first a bit flat until the clove flavoring, which gives the hint of banana, resonates in the middle of the tongue with a pleasant numbing sensation. aroma was nice with the typical yeasty scents of a dunkelweiss with the added pleasure of the clove which says pick me up and relax. Also refreshing that the body was a little on the thin side so drinking more than one, two, three or four was fine without getting annoyed with an overpowering beer

The aroma is plums, raisins, toasted malt, caramel, banana, and spices. The appearance is reddish with a light hazing. The flavor is sweet, sour, and bitter with much of the aroma is reflected in the taste. The palate is thin. The aftertaste is fruity with a hint of paper. Interesting beer, but just a little too weak.
