On tap, NYC. Pours a hazy straw color, aroma is a great mix of sweet and spicy with the spices a little more prominent. Taste is rather bitter and also spicy and palate is rough from the high carbonation but overall not a bad beer.

Pours a nice cloudy orange color with a large lasting white foamy head. Smell is nice and smooth with banana and wheat with a touch of lemon. Taste is very similar with wheat, and banana notes. Slightly citric. Medium/thin body, med./high carbonation with a foamy mouthfeel. Not bad, but a bit overcarbonated.

This beer pours nicely into the glass with a large creamy head that last for about two minutes. I was surprised at how clear it was for a heffe, especially with the amount of sediment at the bottom. The nose was orangy, rye bread, with actually a hint of strawberry. The mouthfeal was ultra carbonated for a heffe, possibly due to it being brewed with barley malts and not 100% wheat. Taste was similar to old sourdough bread with a hint of lemon and orange. Overall, it’s palatable... but my least favorite heffe.

Julius Echter Hefe-Weiss Premium Würzburger Hofbrau is what it says on the label. I hope this is the right one! It’s a cloudy, dim yellow beer with a soft white head. It has the expected banana-clove aroma-- really big on the banana. It has a reasonably smooth and crisp medium-light body. It has a mild flavor with a slightly bitter finish. There isn’t as much flavor as there is aroma here. It is fruity, wheaty... a very good example of the style-- a solid Hefeweizen.

Bottle (50 cl) from Toom Getränkemarkt, Würzburg, Germany.Cloudy golden with large white head. Spicy and fruity, with bananas and tropical fruits. medium bodied with moussy mouthfeel. Well balanced with a dry and slightly bitter finish. Very refreshing Hefeweizen.

Draught (30 cl) at the brewpub. Cloudy deep golden, medium white head. Standard Hefeweizen clove and banana, but well done. On the verge of being too sweet, but still ok.

From tap at Rixdorf brewpub, sold as Rixdorfer Hefeweizen, yet served in a Julius Echter glass - rebadged beer according to the owner. Pours hazy orange/yellow with a lacing white head. Dry estery and fruity aroma. Flavouris dry estery with a mild banana note and a more subdued orange fruity note. Ends dry an wheaty. Classic wheatbeer (not my style).

500 ml purchased at Specs Liquor in Houston, TX. Best before Oct 20, 2008. Pour is almost all white head, eventually settiling back to reveal a cloudy yellow white beer with tiny carbonation bubbles. Head retention was pretty amazing on this beer. Aroma of cloves, flowers and bananas. Also some burning earthiness below. Taste is wheaty, grainy and some cloves. The banana is there, but it is part of many fruits, some citrus, some sweet. Palate is a bit towards the watery, though makes this quite drinkable. Nice example of the style.

.5 L Bottle from the rip and run. Pours a cloudy pale yellow with an outrageous head. Too cloudy for my liking. Wheat is present but rounded down. Body is a bit watery for my liking. Sparlkling on the tounge. finsish is fast with apricots and bananas. Went back to the Pilsner Urquell after this one.
