Marsiblursi (1400), Göteborg, Sweden Jul 3, 2008 (Bottle) Pours hazy pale golden with a foamy white head. The aroma is rather typical for a German wheat beer with strong notes of spicy clove and medium tones of sweet banana and wheat. Some smoky incense and floral notes are also present. Light tropical and citric hints of tangerines, sweet oranges, peach, mango and strawberries. Some yeast and toasted malt. The flavour is a bit more simplistic with wheat, banana, clove, toasted malt and mild hints of citrus. The mouthfeel is creamy and soft with a small bubbly carbonation. Aftertaste of salt, wheat and mild citrus fruits. Tiny hop bitter finish. Medium bodied. Lovely aroma and palate. Mediocre flavour.
PolakPorter (60), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 24, 2008 Golden pour HUGE head. Spicy/fruity aroma, banana? lemon? There’s a lot going on here. Taste does not let down. Wheaty, yeasty fruit with a lingering aftertaste. Hell of a hefe! Very surprised at all the relatively low ratings. Do not be fooled! This is one of the best wheat beers available. Pershing (68), Garland, Texas, USA Aug 21, 2008 Cloudy straw to match style. Fruity nose with a dry and slightly tangy feel to the palate. Another excellent Hefeweizen from the County who invented the this style. rugbydude05 (162), Kew Gardens, New York, USA Aug 20, 2008 On tap, NYC. Pours a hazy straw color, aroma is a great mix of sweet and spicy with the spices a little more prominent. Taste is rather bitter and also spicy and palate is rough from the high carbonation but overall not a bad beer. lb4lb (1365), Austin, Texas, USA Aug 15, 2008 Pours a nice cloudy orange color with a large lasting white foamy head. Smell is nice and smooth with banana and wheat with a touch of lemon. Taste is very similar with wheat, and banana notes. Slightly citric. Medium/thin body, med./high carbonation with a foamy mouthfeel.
Not bad, but a bit overcarbonated. Signal61 (2), Florida, USA does not count Aug 12, 2008 This beer pours nicely into the glass with a large creamy head that last for about two minutes. I was surprised at how clear it was for a heffe, especially with the amount of sediment at the bottom. The nose was orangy, rye bread, with actually a hint of strawberry. The mouthfeal was ultra carbonated for a heffe, possibly due to it being brewed with barley malts and not 100% wheat. Taste was similar to old sourdough bread with a hint of lemon and orange. Overall, it’s palatable... but my least favorite heffe.
