Julius Echter Kristall Weizenbier

I tried this on tap at a bar in the East Village in NYC. Wow! I like weiss beers, but this one had a lingering, sweet flavor that I just loved.

(bottle) Slightly hazy, pale golden colour with a fluffy white foam. Moderately sweet, slightly acidic fruity (citrus, banana) aroma with light notes of cloves and vanilla. Sweet and slightly sour flavour. Wheat-malty, fruity and slightly yeasty taste; also slightly cardboardy towards the end; soft and even a bit flat carbonation, that makes the finish slightly sticky (26.02.08).

Bought at a gas station in Würzburg, Germany enjoyed out a hefe glass in the car. A little more amber in colour than most with being big on malt and flavour. page 500 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide.

Bottled. Pake golden with a huge fizzy head. Sweet and fruity with notes of banana. Boring with too high carbonation level.

(Bottle 50 cl) Clear, pilsener golden with a dense, white head. Light, wheaty esters of banana. Medium body, notes of yeast and banana. Dry finish. Slightly overcarbonated. 211006

Bottle. Pale golden colour with a huge white head. Banana aroma and a sweet light caramel, banana taste. Medium body with a sweet finish.

An orange beer with a thick white head. The aroma is sweet malty with primary notes of wheat, but also lighter fruity notes of peaches. The flavor is sweet malty with primary notes of caramel, but also light fruity notes, before a slightly bitter end sets in. The body is thin.

This beer bites back in the most pleasant way. Beautiful hints of spices and a refreshing wash across the palate.
