| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 16, 2009 Tap at Jupiter. Not quite there stylistically. Nose is on the grainy side and very plain. Tastes of cheap coffee and stingy chocolate. Doesn’t unify well, ends abruptly and is kind of boring. italarican (170), Astoria, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 9, 2009 Updated: Jun 15, 2009Pours a deep brown, perhaps, black, with a thick tan head that ended up lasting through the entire pint. Aroma of milk chocolate, molasses, and tootsie roll. I could say the flavor is dark roast coffee with some roasted malt and a hint of hops, but I think it’s ok to say: tastes like Guinness. Actually, this brew looked like Guinness, tasted like Guinness, and felt like Guinness. As it warmed up, there was a nutty, slightly alcohol taste that stood out... much like in Guinness. I’d have this again, partly because I enjoyed it, and partly to confirm whether they didn’t accidentally fill my glass with Guinness.
EDIT: I was, indeed, given a Guinness by mistake the first time. This brew poured a deep brown with a thinner (though still creamy) beige head. Flavor was a bit nuttier and had a bit more of an oatmeal stout texture. Very good stout in its own right. tekhna (118), California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2009 Not a bad beer overall. The best lingering head I’ve ever seen, perhaps due to Nitro? Some decent roasty flavors, not overly complex but not bad coffee flavors. Not a bad beer at all, but nothing to write home about. Jupiter itself is awesome.
