el_caballo (101), Beverly Hills, California, USA Apr 29, 2008 Cloudy apperence citrusy flavors dominate the experience with this beer. Drinkable for sure with a nice palate, wish it had a bit more head on it. General_Gao (2579), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Aug 2, 2006 Draught at the brewpub. This one was as pretty looking as the IIPA. It was so hazy it was opaque. Color was of a ripe banana that has just begun to brown a bit. The bubbly white head left a lace on the glass. Smelled and tasted of light citrus, banana, and clove. There was also a yeasty note. Great hefe. IHCNavistar (93), Orinda, California, USA Jun 9, 2006 Tap. Bear’s Lair Brewpub (Berkeley, CA, USA). Aroma is hoppy, with significant notes of sweet citrus. Head is thin. Flavor is slightly more malty than hoppy. Yeast is very present, but the richness that usually accompanies the yeast in other hefeweizens is not very there. Siginificant citrus notes are also present in the initial sip and aftertaste. Aftertaste is quite malty and yeasty. Still favor the Red Spot and IPS over the Hefeweizen. mrnutsnbolts (204), Berkeley, California, USA Dec 4, 2005 Tap. Pours an extremely hazy gold color (go Bears!) with very little head. Smells like yeast, lemon, and ester. Tastes yeasty, citrusy, and fruity. Pretty thick palate for a hefe. Definately tasty. beerguy101 (3488), Newark, California, USA Mar 25, 2005 Gold color, very hazy. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity, estery and slightly sweet. A medium bodied hefe. Malts are fruity and sweet. Touch of banana and clove. Lots of fruity esters. Light and refreshing. Crisp and clean. Kind of a cross between a German Hefe and American Wheat. Easy drinking. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
