| 1.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 4/5 | 2/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Sep 7, 2008 Draught. Absolutely no discernible nose off this one. I swirled, sloshed and dang near snorted it. Got a slight wet hay aroma finally. White, fizzy, diminishing head w/ no lacing. Very clear and sparkling. Pale yellow - overall, resembles a dry sparking wine. Saltwater up front w/ a moderately bitter-going-astringent finish. joet (1709), Fulton, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 4, 2001 Excellent for a ’light’ beer. Has an earthy aroma and a striking presentation: bright white meringuesque head and a sparkling light color. Exceptionally clean, dry and yet with a substantial bitter component that slips through nice and clean and without need for a malt to balance. This Helles is all southern Germany. Score another for the Bavarians versus the Czechs.
