Commercial Description:
JW Dundee’s American Amber Lager has a complex malt character that is masterfully balanced by a distinct American Hop aroma and flavor. We use 5 different malts to create the complex malt flavor in this beer. We start with our 2 Row Pale Malt as our base and then add 4 different types of Crystal Malts. It is the combination of the four Crystal malts that define the complexity of the beer. Although the malt is showcased in this beer, the hops play an important part in the balance of flavors. We use Simcoe, Cascade, and Magnum hops to create the hop profile that balances the complex malt character. This balance creates a beer that has great depth of flavor while still being very drinkable. JW Dundee’s Amber Lager is flavorful enough to satisfy craft beer drinkers yet is still accessible to those looking to find a beer with a little more character than their normal beer.

Bottle: Pours a copper color with a moderate, creamy white head. Nose is mild of florals and maltiness. Flavor is crisp, yet lacks real hops. Malty and light cardboard.

Pours a clear dark copper... close to red color with a foamy, full head. Very malty aroma, with a good deal of caramel, too. A slight hop and sweetness in the nose as well. Flavor is malt and caramel with a slight bitter aftertaste. A smooth, easy to drink beer. 12 oz. bottle from J.W. Dundee’s Craft Pack.

pours amber gold with a one finger bubbly off white head. aroma is pure malt with just a touch of hops. has a light to medium body with ok lacing and descent carbonation. flavor is the same as aroma with a little sweet malt mixed in and a touch more hops. has a small dry hop aftertaste as well. not bad of an amber lager i guess.

12 oz bottle from Craft Pack. Didnt really enjoy this beer. Listed as an American Amber Lager similar to Honey Brown - but I would take a Honey Brown over this anyday.

bottle poured an amber in color with a thick three finger head and great carbination. smell is malts, light hops, and a slight sweetness. on looks in the glass alone this beer is surprising for a dundees brew. taste is medium light in mouth feel, has a smooth malted flavor, and finishes with a light bitterness on the sides of the tongue. a little on the thin side as is expected, but for the price it is pretty good, best one from this brewer i have tried yet.

Had this beer on 8/8/2005. Aroma is a nice tosted malt scent. Color is a nice brown with very good carbonation and a full head. Taste sweet and malty. Starting with a mild/medium body it goes down with a smooth fizzy feel. finish is a nice malty sweetness backed by a faint bitterness and hop flaover. its just not rich enough, but still a nice beer to drink.

Bottle poured a clear light amber with a small lasting ivory head. Aromas of bread, carmel and a hint of honey. Palate was light bodied and crisp. Flavors of bread, carmel and light fruitiness with a crisp slightly dry finish.
