Commercial Description:
JW Dundee’s American Amber Lager has a complex malt character that is masterfully balanced by a distinct American Hop aroma and flavor. We use 5 different malts to create the complex malt flavor in this beer. We start with our 2 Row Pale Malt as our base and then add 4 different types of Crystal Malts. It is the combination of the four Crystal malts that define the complexity of the beer. Although the malt is showcased in this beer, the hops play an important part in the balance of flavors. We use Simcoe, Cascade, and Magnum hops to create the hop profile that balances the complex malt character. This balance creates a beer that has great depth of flavor while still being very drinkable. JW Dundee’s Amber Lager is flavorful enough to satisfy craft beer drinkers yet is still accessible to those looking to find a beer with a little more character than their normal beer.

Medium /dark amber/red pour small beige head. Sweet malt aroma like corn. Lots of malt but rather unrefined. Lots of carbonation for a cold lager. Prefer liene’s red. (rating #100)

Poured a deep copper color with a thin white head, nice malty aroma. Rich malt flavor with a medium mouth feel. Odd flavor in the finish i can’t put my finger on, other wise i would rate it much higher. This was a surprisingly good brew.

(12 oz. bottle) dark copper with slight carmel aroma. mollases is the primary flavor but as with most dundees it’s slight. carbonation is predominent. the malt gives it some body. its a drinkable dark lager for your average joe. dundees doesn’t compete with craft beers but might lure macro drinkers into trying something different.

5/24/07: Bottle.
Red-brown body with a light-white head. Honey malt aroma. Taste is quite off – honey sweetness with stale hops and a bit of tea. Also somewhat thick and chewy.

Rated 8/22/06: Decent offering from a generally lackluster brewery. This vienna poured a very light amber color. I’m hesitant to call it copper but it really is. Small white head and very little lacing. Aroma is sweet with a faint caramel maltiness. Surprisingly full mouthfeel and a really smooth finish which is the best aspect of this brew. Moderate malt flavor, semi-sweet and pleasant but far from interesting. Better than their trademark "Honey Brown" but only by a slim margin.

12 oz bottle. Clear copper with an off white head. Cookie and grain nose tinged with a bit of floral hop, some wet cardboard notes. Weak caramel flavors, very light roastiness, some earthy hop. Decent, mildly bitter earthy finish. Eh.

Bready aromas and generic hops/malt. Copper in color with just a ring of head. Biting, but then a little watery. Rough on the finish.

Bottle. Poured orangey, little head. Malty aroma, less sweet than Honey Brown. A little sweet in flavor, very little hops to counter. Average, easy to drink.
