Commercial Description:
JW Dundee’s American Amber Lager has a complex malt character that is masterfully balanced by a distinct American Hop aroma and flavor. We use 5 different malts to create the complex malt flavor in this beer. We start with our 2 Row Pale Malt as our base and then add 4 different types of Crystal Malts. It is the combination of the four Crystal malts that define the complexity of the beer. Although the malt is showcased in this beer, the hops play an important part in the balance of flavors. We use Simcoe, Cascade, and Magnum hops to create the hop profile that balances the complex malt character. This balance creates a beer that has great depth of flavor while still being very drinkable. JW Dundee’s Amber Lager is flavorful enough to satisfy craft beer drinkers yet is still accessible to those looking to find a beer with a little more character than their normal beer.

Caramel malt aroma, and snazzy red body with a constant layer of amber foam. Flavor was more reserved, both a malty smoothness with subtle bitterness. Think of it as an "unsweetended" Yuengling Lager. Part of a multi-pack that was going for sixteen bucks a case in Philadelphia.

Amber, no head. Toasted, caramel malt aroma with some vanilla. Sweet caramel flavor with little else. Finishes clean. Watery.

The aroma is a nice with the emphasis on caramel malt. There are some grassy and piney hops also. The appearance is mahogany with a small foamy mead. The flavor is malty with caramel and is mildly bitter. The palate is watery and the finish is lightly hoppy and nutty. Overall I think this is a good beer when there is nothing better available. It’s certainly drinkable and not offensive but just a little to weak.

Somewhat watery and very like a James Squire amber ale from Australia. As a result, bit of a boring malt nose, thin mouthfeel, and an unimposing finish. Thirst quenching and better than most macro lagers, but not amazing.

Same sweet grassy aroma as most of the other JWD’s products. Appearance is nice looking clear amber with a nice tall white head. Taste is ... well, it’s drinkable, particularly if cold.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear amber with a moderate head that lasted through most of the glass. Light aroma of malt and caramel. No hops detected in the nose. Flavor was typical lager, nothing special going on here.

I had a 12 oz bottle of this Saturday night (10/28/2006) at a friend’s Halloween/50th Birthday Party... Nice amber color with a dense white head (about one finger in depth). Moderate carbonation. Mostly caramelized malt aroma and flavor with a mild bitterness. Medium body and again, pretty smooth. This is a pretty decent amber brew. Definitely no where near the best, but better than most. Of the four JW Dundees brews I’ve had, this one is probably the best...

12oz bottle-Light amber body with a decent white head. Aroma of caramel and spiciness. Tastes like an amber pale lager. Bad
