Commercial Description:
JW Dundee’s American Amber Lager has a complex malt character that is masterfully balanced by a distinct American Hop aroma and flavor. We use 5 different malts to create the complex malt flavor in this beer. We start with our 2 Row Pale Malt as our base and then add 4 different types of Crystal Malts. It is the combination of the four Crystal malts that define the complexity of the beer. Although the malt is showcased in this beer, the hops play an important part in the balance of flavors. We use Simcoe, Cascade, and Magnum hops to create the hop profile that balances the complex malt character. This balance creates a beer that has great depth of flavor while still being very drinkable. JW Dundee’s Amber Lager is flavorful enough to satisfy craft beer drinkers yet is still accessible to those looking to find a beer with a little more character than their normal beer.

Not terrible, but amber lager is just not my favorite, and this is a middle of the road amber. Head dissipated quickly, and virtually no lacing. Everything else with this was just ho-hum. I would drink again if free at a party, but not go out of my way to buy.

Considering I was introduced to JW by Honey Amber..this is really a tremendous improvement. Aroma isnt spectacular but smells sharply of sweet nuttiness and a little caramel. Flavor is surprisingly nutty and chocolately with a sweet caramel roll on; much like a brown ale. Palate fades fairly quick but is still decent with a well-rounding hop bitterness. Considering this is about $8.50 per 12pk (assortment) its a very good bargain.

Bottle: Malty aroma and flavor, something about it I would term bold. Which is strange because its a fairly standard beer thats kind of boring. Definitly not a bad beer.

A surprisingly good beer!!! This is completely unexpected!! I poured the bottle into my glass, and found myself distracted for a few minutes. Upon returning, the head was still standing. What a pleasant surprise. The aroma is rather rich, with plenty of malt, some caramel, and some hops. The taste is very good. Sweet at the front, bitter at the end, just like they draw it up on the blackboard. An extremely good beer, from an unlikely source. It’s sort of like a team from a " Mid Major " conference doing really well in the NCAA tourney.

Poured a dark amber color with a creamy white head. Very sweet hoppy malt smell throught. Very sweet malt flavor of caramel yet still spicy.

Pours with a decent head that leaves anice lace one the sides of the glass as you drink. A nice amber color, not much in the way of nose or mouthfeel but does have a prett good, rich flavor. Reminds me of a Marzen.

Given to me as a part of a gift of mixed 12-pack by a friend, this is something I had passed over many times for other better known beers. The beer came out clear orange amber in color, and displayed a one finger thick head. Aromatically, this was hoppier than I was anticipating, with a clean, almost noble aroma balancing out the sweet caramel malt smell. The taste was balanced as well between these two elements. The malts were definitely prominent here providing caramel, honey, and brown sugar flavors, while hops provided a spicy pizzazz to keep the taste from becoming too basic. Medium mouthfeel was nicely sticky, with a fizzle of carbonation of the tongue finishing things off. Much more interesting than I thought it was going to be. This ought to teach me not to overlook anything.

Bottle. Very sweet/syrupy malt aroma. Reddish dark amber color with small head. Mildly sweet malt flavor - long lasting - not nearly as sweet as the aroma would lead you to believe. Nice brew.
