Commercial Description:
JW Dundee’s American Amber Lager has a complex malt character that is masterfully balanced by a distinct American Hop aroma and flavor. We use 5 different malts to create the complex malt flavor in this beer. We start with our 2 Row Pale Malt as our base and then add 4 different types of Crystal Malts. It is the combination of the four Crystal malts that define the complexity of the beer. Although the malt is showcased in this beer, the hops play an important part in the balance of flavors. We use Simcoe, Cascade, and Magnum hops to create the hop profile that balances the complex malt character. This balance creates a beer that has great depth of flavor while still being very drinkable. JW Dundee’s Amber Lager is flavorful enough to satisfy craft beer drinkers yet is still accessible to those looking to find a beer with a little more character than their normal beer.

The beer dispenses from the 12-ounce brown bottle an unclouded burnished copper with a modest light tan frothy head; the lace forms a thin but concealing curtain upon the glass. Nose is has a nice malt sweetness that is crisp and pleasant to the senses, start is somewhat sweet with a light but pleasing grain profile, the top light to moderate in feel. Finish is prickly in its acidity, the hops light but present, quite dry aftertaste lingers long on the palate, a drinkable beer

Found this on sale at the local swill market and picked up a single to try on a whim. Tried the Honey Brown and didn’t care for the sweetness and off flavors. This was just a bit better, buIt has a similarity to the Honey Brown. Some caramel malts and a touch of hops giving it a spicy character. Not bad but not much better than mediocre.

Got this one from the JW Dundee variety pack. Nothing special here, just a normal upper scale lager. Nothing offensive, but nothing to offer either

Pours caramel colored and clear filtered with mild white head. Malty flavor with hint of sweetness. Better than usual! More than a standard beer. For what it’s worth, it’s much better than Yeungling. Bitches.

Pours Clear copper red brown with a nice beige head of small bubbles. Nose is a little malty. First sip is a little malt but not much else. Quite watery. In short a quaffable in quantity beer with little else to offer.

12oz bottle pours amber with a fair offwhite head that stays well and laces some.. Aroma is of light hops and caramel malts. Flavor is mild and tamed caramel malts and a light hop presence. Palate is light carbonated and airy. One step above the macros here. Not worth seeking out..

12oz bottle from their multi-pack. Translucent amber-red body with a half inch of off-white head. Smells of roasty malts. Tastes like roasty malt with some citrus hops in the background. On the lighter side of medium-bodied. Drinkable and very tasty. Their best offering I’ve yet tried...

Slight malty aroma with some hops and an amber color. The head is a decent white with some lacing. The flavor is mild and moderate on the palate.
