Commercial Description:
JW Dundee’s American Amber Lager has a complex malt character that is masterfully balanced by a distinct American Hop aroma and flavor. We use 5 different malts to create the complex malt flavor in this beer. We start with our 2 Row Pale Malt as our base and then add 4 different types of Crystal Malts. It is the combination of the four Crystal malts that define the complexity of the beer. Although the malt is showcased in this beer, the hops play an important part in the balance of flavors. We use Simcoe, Cascade, and Magnum hops to create the hop profile that balances the complex malt character. This balance creates a beer that has great depth of flavor while still being very drinkable. JW Dundee’s Amber Lager is flavorful enough to satisfy craft beer drinkers yet is still accessible to those looking to find a beer with a little more character than their normal beer.

Pours copper orange, clear with medium bubbly tan sticky head. Aroma of popcorn jellybean. Popcorn and sweet malt metallic flavor. Thin, smooth palate that kind of sticks around.

Very middle of the road. Much too malty, caramelly for my tastes. Not bad for a lager of course, but not anything I’d buy again.

About what I expected, kind of an understated John Courage, not sure what was balanced perfectly, but for 4.50 a six I can’t really complain.

Sep beir meisters meeting. Color is reddish gold with an off white head. Aroma is caramelly, with some soapy? notes. Taste is caramel, malt, nobleish hops. Mouthfeel is buttery and fizzy. Some unusual aromas and flavors.

Bottle:Perfectly balanced?! Scandalous! This amber colored beer with light head and mild lacing has a nose of extract diacetyl. The butterscotchyness of this is supreme. I can’t recall a beer with more. The flavor is a bit carbonated and a little hop bitterness but nothing compared to the medium sweetness and huge diacetyl note that compound to create a Willy Wonkaish caramelly beer. The finish is underhopped and twice over bad. This is serious crap here.

12 oz bottle, acquired from my mother in law’s fridge. Pours a clear copper, finger sized head that fizzles quickly. Aroma is of overly sweet caramel malt and bread. Flavor is sickenly sweet followed by a bready malt finish. I don’t know where they get all this blabbering about hops in the commercial description because I can barely pick them out. Palate is overly cloying and sweet. Finish is a lingering dull bitterness with a distinctly soapy flavor. Glad I didn’t actually pay money for this.

Across the board not bad. Poured a pale amber like watery tea. Mild malt and a hint of sweetness in the nose. I could find almost no hops in this. Mildly malty, slightly sweet with a hint of nuttiness. Nothing special but at $5 a six nothin to complain about.

From the bottle this pours a very clear copper with an offwhite head. I’m suprised by the lower ratings of this, I think this is way better than Rogue’s Amber. Rich caramel malts with a nice hop finish and good balance. Smooth and good weight on the palate, i didn’t find this very watery at all.
